Research Purpose:1.In this study, ultrasound was used to determine the gastric emptiness time of healthy adults drinking 50 ml of water,50 ml of 10% glucose injection and 50 ml of 12.5% maltodextrin for three consecutive times, respectively,to explore the gastric emptiness time of continuous small doses of liquid;Analyze the regularity of gastric emptying time for three consecutive times of small dose liquid.2.Based on the gastric emptying time of volunteers drinking continuous low-dose liquid, the main related factors affecting liquid gastric emptying were explored,so as to provide a theoretical basis for exploring the preoperative drinking abstention scheme for patients with tabula operation.Research Methods:In the first part,31 self-recruited volunteers who met the inclusion criteria were selected as subjects, all aged over 18 years, including 9 males and 22 females,BMI ranging from 18 kg /m2 to 30Kg/m2,no history of gastrointestinal surgery,no history of diabetes,non-pregnant females, and no use of drugs affecting gastrointestinal motility within three days. Each volunteer completed the measurement over three days, drinking one of three liquids each day, namely 50 ml of clear water or 50 ml of 12.5% maltodextrin or 50 ml of 10% glucose injection, each liquid was measured three times in a row. Before being tested, the volunteers had to abstain from solid food for 8 hours and clear liquid for 4 hours. The volunteers were placed in 45-degree right decubitus position to obtain ultrasound images of the whole gastric cavity, mainly in the gastric antrum. The volunteers could be asked to drink the prepared liquid when the gastric cavity was empties, and the instant time after drinking the liquid was recorded by B-mode ultrasound.A 50 ml volume of liquid B ultrasound was continuously observed until the liquid was completely emptised and the time of the liquid emptised to 0 state was recorded. When gastric emptying is empty at a certain time point and remains unchanged within 2min,the time point when gastric emptying is first observed to be 0 is defined as gastric emptying time. The time of gastric emptying was measured for three consecutive times for each liquid, and the obtained time was recorded.Calculation method: time for complete gastric fluid empty-the time immediately after the liquid is ingested. In the second part,a total of 100 thyroid surgery patients who met the inclusion criteria and were admitted to the thyroid surgery department of a large comprehensive Grade A hospital in Hangzhou from September 20 to December 20,20 were selected as the research objects. The basic information of the patients was collected, and the patients were evaluated and educated the day before surgery. Before 12:00 p.m.preoperatively and 7:00 a.m.on the day of surgery, the patients were given water or 10% sugar water or 12.5% maltodextrin as needed,50 ml each time, with an interval of at least 1 hour.At 7:00,7:05,7:10 and so on,abdominal ultrasound was performed to check the gastric emptiness every 5 minutes, and the operation could not be performed until the stomach was completely emptied under ultrasonic observation.SPSS 23.0 software was used in this study for statistical analysis and data processing.Frequency and percentage were used to describe the counting data.Mean ± standard deviation was used to describe the measurement data.One-way ANOVA was used to compare the gastric empties of water,10% glucose injection and 12.5% maltodextrin. The regularity of gastric emptying time for 3 consecutive times with clear water,10% glucose injection and 12.5%maltodextrin was analyzed by two-factor repeated measurement ANOVA.Independent sample t-test,one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation analysis were used to analyze the correlation between gastric emptying time and general information and drinking habits of patients who drank water,10% glucose injection and 12.5% maltodextrin.Multivariate stepwise linear regression analysis was performed on the factors affecting the time of gastric emptying.Research Results:1.Healthy volunteers drank 50 ml of water for 3 consecutive emptying times, which were16.29(8-43)min,18.87(8-40)min,19.29(8-47)min,respectively;The three consecutive emptied times of 50 ml 10% glucose injection were 33.61(14-55)min,36.45(17-70)min,35.77(17-47)min,respectively.The emptying time of 12.5% maltodextrin 50 ml for three consecutive times were 35.65(8-67)min,39.23(8-77)min and 39.03(19-60)min,respectively.2.The time of gastric emptying was different for the volunteers to drink 50 ml of water for three consecutive times, and the time of gastric emptying gradually became longer with the number of drinks. There was no difference in gastric emptying time of 10% glucose injection 50 ml for three consecutive times. There was no difference in gastric emptying time for three consecutive times with 12.5% maltodextrin 50 ml.There was a significant difference in the gastric empties time between water group and glucose and maltodextrin group. The gastric empties time of 10%glucose injection and maltodextrin group was longer than that of water group. There was no significant difference between the glucose injection group and the maltodextrin group in the gastric emptytime.3.The fluid emptied time may be affected by the type of fluid, the diabetes, the patient’s drinking habit(hot/cold drinks),and the total amount of fluid consumed;Gender, age and BMI were not associated with gastric emptying time.4.After drinking 50 ml water or 50ml10% glucose injection or 50ml12.5% maltodextrin liquid, the gastric cavity of the patient was empties under ultrasonic observation at 1h.Research Conclusion:1.The gastric emptiness time of 1.10% glucose injection 50 ml and 12.5% maltodextrin 50 ml was longer than that of water 50 ml.There was no significant difference in gastric emptytime between 10% glucose injection 50 ml and 12.5% maltodextrin 50 ml.2.The gastric emptying time of 50 ml water for 3 consecutive times gradually increased with the number of drinking;10% glucose injection 50 ml and 12.5% maltodextrin 50 ml for 3consecutive gastric emptying times had the same time.3.The type of fluid, diabetes, habit of drinking liquid(hot/cold drink)and total amount of liquid had obvious influence on gastric emptying time;Age,gender,BMI and smoking history had no effect on fluid gastric emptying.4.Patients undergoing thyroid surgery are in a state of gastric emptiness 1h after drinking50 ml water or 50ml10% glucose water or 50ml12.5% maltodextrin. Therefore,it is safe for patients to drink water or 50 ml sugar water every 1h as needed during the period of non-drinking restriction.
