Polygala japonica Houtt.is the whole plant of Polygala japonica Houtt.,Also known as Golden Key,Xiaoyuanzhi, etc.,distributed in southern provinces of China. The chemical composition is mainly saponin compounds and flavone compounds. Its pharmacological effects are Anti-inflammatory and analgesic. It is often combined with large green leaves and wild chrysanthemum and other compound Polygala japonica Houtt.particles and Jin Hongsheng particles, which are mostly used to treat upper respiratory tract infections.Polygala japonica Houtt.and the widely recognized Chinese medicine Polygala for the treatment of dementia belong to the same family and same genus.the two are closely related in plant-based sources, ancient and modern literature records, folk medicine custom, chemical composition, pharmacological activity and so on.Polygala tenuifolia willd is rich in compounds such as saponin and oligosaccharide chemical composition. It has many aspects such as nootropic, sedative and hypnotic,antidepressant,anti-aging and antitussive biological activity.Alzheimer’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive cognitive impairment and memory impairment. Its clinical manifestations are slow onset, patients are mostly elderly, and its incidence rate increases with the patient’s age.It is the fourth leading cause of elderly death after cardiovascular disease, cancer, and stroke. Therefore, finding new Chinese medicine resources for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s diseasea is undoubtedly of great social significance and scientific value. Objective Experimental study on pharmacodynamics of different polar parts of Polygala japonica Houtt.against Alzheimer’s disease. Methods Polygala japonica Houtt.are extracted by infiltration, and different polar parts are obtained after extraction, and the research was carried out from learning and memory impairment experiments,in vitro anti-oxidant experiments,anti-aging experiments,anti-inflammat-ory and analgesic experiments etc.,through the water maze,Measurement of cotton ball granuloma and capillary permeability, etc.,to observe the effects of different polar parts of Polygala japonica Houtt.on different experimental models. Results Learning and memory impairment experiment: the ethyl acetate part and the n-butanol part of Polygala japonica Houtt.significantly reduced the latency time of the mice and increased the number of cross-platform mice, both of which can improve the learning and memory ability of the mice;antioxidant experiments: Polygala japonica Houtt.ethyl acetate part and the n-butanol part can scavenge free radicals in vitro, and both have antioxidant activity in vitro. At low concentrations, the antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate at the same concentration is better than that of n-butanol.Anti-aging experiment: high dose group of Polygala japonica Houtt.n-butanol can improve learning and memory ability of aging mice.Anti-inflammatory and analgesic experiments: Both the ethyl acetate and n-butanol parts of the Polygala japonica Houtt.can significantly reduce the degree of ear swelling in mice, reduce the mass of granulomas in rats, and reduce the number of writhing in mice.Increase the pain threshold.Polygala japonica Houtt.n-butanol fraction significantly reduces the absorbance A value of the mouse abdominal lavage fluid, both of which have anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity;soothing test: Polygala japonica Houtt.n-butanol portion high dose group has soothing effect;antitussive and expectorant Experiments: The number of coughs in the low-and medium-,and high-dose groups of ethyl acetate was significantly reduced, and the number of coughs was significantly lower in the low-,medium-,and high-dose groups of n-butanol,Both have antitussive activity;the amount of phenol red excretion increased significantly in the middle-dose group of the ethyl acetate portion of Polygala japonica Houtt.,and the expectorant activity of the ethyl acetate portion of Polygala japonica Houtt..Conclusion This article first studied the anti-dementia activity of Polygala japonica Houtt.from multiple perspectives. The results show that the ethyl acetate and n-butanol sites of Polygala japonica Houtt.have certain anti-dementia activities. The results are of great significance to find the material basis of anti-dementia,expand its application range, and explore the scientific connotation of Polygala japonica Houtt.
