Study On Trend And Age Distribution Of Female External Genital Plastic Surgery In Recent 13 Years And Current Situation Of Labia Majora In Plastic Surgery

Background:Like other parts of the body,the reproductive organs also change with age.Due to the promotion of media and the improvement of living standards,women pay more attention to their external genitalia,and the need for external genital plastic surgery also increases.The purpose of female external genital plastic surgery is to treat vulva atrophy and shrinkage,skin flabby and drooping,improve the appearance of external genital,enhance the patient’s confidence,and improve the quality of sexual life.Surgical methods mainly include clitoris circumcision,labiaplasty,vaginal tightening surgery,perineoplasty,and so on,among which labiaplasty and vaginal contraction are the most popular.Objective:To study the changing trend of the number of patients undergoing female external genital plastic surgery and the characteristics of age distribution.Methods:The medical records of patients who had received female external genital plastic surgery in the outpatient department of Plastic Surgery Hospital,Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from 2008 to 2020 were reviewed and statistically analyzed.The number,average age,and proportion of patients were calculated according to the time,labiaplasty,and vaginal tightening surgery.Results:1.Between 2008 and 2020,a total of 2157 cases of female genital plastic surgery were performed in outpatient clinics of our plastic surgery hospitals,including 1228 cases of labiaplasty and 1098 cases of vaginal tightening surgery.2.The number of labiaplasties,vaginal tightening surgery and plastic surgery of female external genitalia increased year by year(P<0.001),the difference is statistically significant.3.In the past 13 years,the proportion of labiaplasty in female external genital plastic surgery increased year by year(P<0.01),the difference is statistically significant;The proportion of vaginal tightening surgery in external genital plastic surgery fluctuated from year to year(P>0.05),the difference is not statistically significant.4.The mean age of patients undergoing labiaplasty,vaginal tightening surgery,and external female genital plastic surgery decreased with the annual increase(P<0.001),the difference is statistically significant.5.The age distribution of patients receiving female genital plastic surgery varied with time.The number and proportion of patients aged 18-33 showed an overall increasing trend,while the number of patients aged 34-49 fluctuated greatly(P>0.05),the difference is not statistically significant,and the proportion showed a downward trend.The number and proportion of patients aged 50-65 showed a decreasing trend(P<0.001),the difference is statistically significant.Conclusion:From 2008 to 2020,the demand for female external genital plastic surgery increased gradually,especially for labia minora plastic surgery.The number of patients receiving vaginal tightening surgery,labiaplasty and female external genital plastic surgery all showed a younger trend.
