| Objective: Observe the protective effect of Kiwi essence on radiationinduced lung injury in rats.The superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in the serum were tested to preliminarily explore the mechanism.Methods: 192 Sprague-Dawley rats were grouped,including blank group,model group,treatment group(divided into 3 groups of 60,120,240mg/kg Kiwi essence treatment group)and prevention group(divided into 3 groups of 60,120,240mg/kg Kiwi essence treatment group),a total of 8 groups,24 rats in each group.Except for the blank group,all the other groups used 6MV-X-ray small-dose fractional total chest irradiation modeling(3Gy every time,2 times a week,total dose 18Gy).Rats in the prevention groups were given intragastric administration 1 week before radiation,rats in the treatment groups were performed after the start of radiation,the gavage dose was added to the physiological saline to prepare1 mL liquid according to the corresponding dose of Kiwi essence in each group,the blank group and the model groups were given at the same time.In each group,6 rats were randomly sacrificed at 2,4,6,and 8 weeks.The right lungs were taken for HE staining and Masson staining to observe the pathological changes,and the semi-quantitative scores were performed.The left lung was taken to prepare lung tissue homogenate was extracted to detect the hydroxyproline(HYP)content in the lung tissue,and the peripheral blood was taken to determine the serum SOD activity and MDA content.Results: 1.Compared with the model group,the 120mg/kg Kiwi essence treatment groups and the prevention groups had lower alveolitis scores and lung tissue HYP content(P<0.05),the alveolitis score,pulmonary fibrosis score and HYP content of lung tissue in the 240mg/kg Kiwi essence treatment groups and prevention groups also decreased(P<0.05),60mg/kg Kiwi essence treatment groups and prevention groups have no such effects(P>0.05).2.In the treatment groups,compared with 60mg/kg,the alveolitis scores,HYP content of lung tissue were decreased.in 120 and 240mg/kg groups(P<0.05),compared with the latter groups,the lung tissue HYP content is lower in 240mg/kg group(P<0.05).In the prevention groups,compared with 60 mg/kg,the alveolitis score,pulmonary fibrosis score and lung tissue HYP content were reduced in 120,240 mg/kg groups(P<0.05),compared with the latter groups,the alveolitis score,lung fibrosis score and lung tissue HYP content are lower in 240mg/kg group(P<0.05).3.Compared with model groups,the serum SOD activity increased,MDA content decreased in 120,240mg/kg treatment groups(P<0.05).There were no change in serum SOD activity and MDA content in 60mg/kg Kiwi essence treatment groups and prevention groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.Kiwi essence have preventive effect on radiationinduced lung injury in rats,and it mechanism may be related to enhancing the antioxidant capacity of rats and reducing oxidative stress damage.2.The preventive effects in radiation-induced lung injury rats may be positively correlated with the dose. |
