Objective To collect incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer in China from 2005 to 2015,analyze the trends of incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer in China through the Joinpoint regression model, and analyze the trends of the incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer in different subsite,in order to provide references for formulating more detailed and targeted prevention and control strategies.Methods(1)The incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer from2005 to 2015 were collected from China Cancer Registry Annual Report,The standardized incidence and mortality,age-specific incidence and mortality over the years was calculated, and then calculate the APC(annual percent change)and AAPC(average annual percent change)of the incidence and mortality through the Joinpoint regression model, analyzed the trends of incidence and mortality in segments over the years.(2)To further analyze the trend of the standardized incidence and mortality in different subsite(Lips,Tongue,Mouth,Salivary glands,Tonsil,Other oropharynx,Hypopharynx and Pharynx unspecified)of oral and pharyngeal cancer,in order to understand the changes by region, gender and age in China.Results(1)The incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer in urban areas showed an upward trend form 2013 to 2015(APC=8.08%,P<0.05),and showed the same trend in rural areas form 2009 to 2015(APC=3.72%,P<0.05).The standardized incidence among urban areas was higher than that in rural areas form 2005 to 2015,and the standardized incidence was higher in the males than that in the females. The incidence of the over 35-year population showed an upward trend. The peak incidence was in the age group of 75-85 years. The mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer in urban showed an upward trend from 2005 to 2013(APC=1.75%,P<0.05).The mortality of males in China showed an upward trend from 2011 to 2015(APC=3.9%,P<0.05).The mortality of males was higher than that of females over the years, and the mortality showed an upward trend over the35-year population.(2)The standardized incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer that occurred in the lip showed an upward trend in rural areas(2009 to 2015,APC=5.47%,P<0.05),males(2005 to 2015,APC=2.71%,P<0.05)and females(2005 to2015,APC=3.91%,P<0.05).The standardized incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer that occurred in the hypopharynx showed an upward trend in urban areas(2008 to 2015,APC=7.81%,P<0.05),rural areas(2005 to2015,APC=7.65%,P<0.05)and males(2009 to 2015,APC=7.24%,P<0.05).The incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer in each subsite showed a significant upward trend among the age group of 75-85 years, and the incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer that occurs in the tongue and mouth was significantly higher than that in other subsite. The standardized incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer that occurred in the other oropharynx showed an upward trend in urban(2005 to 2015,APC=4.80%,P<0.05),rural areas(2005 to 2015,APC=4.73%,P<0.05)and males(2009 to 2015,APC=6.74%,P<0.05).The standardized incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer that occurred in the hypopharynx showed an upward trend in urban areas(2005 to 2013,APC=9.91%,P<0.05),rural areas(2009 to 2015,APC=16.91%,P<0.05),males(2010 to 2015,APC=10.16%,P<0.05)and females(2008 to 2015,APC=10.54%,P<0.05).Except for the tongue, the mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer in other subsite increased significantly over the age group of 40-years.The mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer that occurred in the tongue was significantly higher than that in other subsite.Conclusions(1)From 2005 to 2015,the incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer in urban areas were higher than those in rural areas. The standardized incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer in the males were higher than those in females over the years. After the 35-year population, the standardized incidence and mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer showed an upward trend from 2005 to 2015.It is necessary to focus on the middle-aged and elderly population to improve their health.(2)The standardized incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer showed an upward trend that occurred in the lip and hypopharynx in China, and the standardized mortality of oral and pharyngeal cancer showed the same trend that occurred in the salivary glands, other oropharynx and hypopharynx. The standardized incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer in tongue, mouth, and salivary glands was higher than that in other subsite, and the standardized mortality of oral cancer and pharyngeal in tongue and mouth was higher than that in other subsite. Both the standardized incidence and mortality of hypopharynx showed an upward trend. The incidence and mortality of all subsite showed an obvious upward trend after the age group of 40-years.
