Objective:To study influencing of smoking cessation outpatients’ social network and it on smoking index in Grade-A Tertiary Hospital in Kunming.Methods:This study was a cross-sectional,multi-center study.Six third-class A hospitals selected by cluster random sampling method from 13 third-class A hospitals in Kunming City from October 2020 to December 2020 were included,including:A total of 351 outpatients who first visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University,the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University,the Ganmei Hospital of the First People’s Hospital of Kunming City,the 920 Hospital of the Joint Logistic Support Force,the First People’s Hospital of Yunnan Province,and the Second People’s Hospital of Yunnan Province.The general information,smoking behavior and social network data of the patients were collected by filling out the Baseline Questionnaire of Quitters face to face.All data were analyzed using R language and environment.Descriptive statistical analysis was used to describe the general demographic information,smoking behavior and social network characteristics of outpatients for smoking cessation.Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influence of social network on smoking index.Results:The average smoking index of 351 outpatients was 216.77+240.94.Among them,there were 342 males(97.45%)and 9 females(2.55%).The number of non-believers was 233(66.39%),followed by 60(17.09%)who believed in Buddhism.There were 236 students with high education level(67.24%)and 115 students with low education level(32.76%).159 persons were unmarried(45.30%),182 persons were married(51.85%),and the other 10 persons(2.85%);The number of Han people is 249(70.94%),and the Yi and Miao people rank first among the minority groups,each with 24(6.84%).There were 285 persons(81.20%)working in non-service industry,33 persons(9.40%)working in service industry and 33 persons(9.40%)working in non-service industry.There are 103 people(29.34%)whose monthly income is more than 6000 yuan,followed by 91 people(25.93%)whose monthly income is between 4000 yuan and 6000 yuan,88 people(25.07%)whose monthly income is between 4000 yuan and 6000 yuan,and 69 people(19.66%)whose monthly income is less than or equal to 2000 yuan.In terms of social network structure,351 outpatients with smoking cessation reported 1703 members in their social network(mean 4.85 ± 0.29).Patients with the same gender and the same education level accounted for 83.48%and 62.39%respectively.In terms of social network relationship,the friends who do not smoke and do not drink were the most(68.09%),followed by other relatives(44.44%),colleagues(39.89%)and friends who drink alcohol(35.90%).In terms of the closeness and influence between patients and network members,98.58%patients had at least one close or very close member,86.04%patients had at least one very influential member,and 94.02%patients had members who discussed smoking with them.89.17%of the patients had members who could share cigarettes and supported their smoking.In terms of social support,most people believed that they had at least one member who would provide financial support(93.45%),emotional support(97.72%),health advice(87.18%)and assessment support(98.29%).Logistic regression analysis showed that:Large network size(OR=1.793,95%CI[0.992~3.858]),having children in the network(OR=6.346,95%CI[2.257-19.856]),and having at least one very influential person in the network(OR=2.738,95%CI[1.129-7.007])was a risk factor for high smoking index in outpatients who quit smoking.Friends who drink alcohol(OR=0.281,95%CI[0.136-0.564]),friends who don’t smoke and don’t drink alcohol(OR=0.435,95%CI[0.213-0.879]),and friends who can get health advice from network members(OR=0.405,95%CI[0.113~1.345])was a protective factor for high smoking index in outpatients who quit smoking.Conclusions:1.Large network size,having children in the network,and having at least one highly influential person in the network were risk factors for a high smoking index among smoking cessation outpatients.2.Having friends in the network who drink alcohol,having friends who don’t smoke and don’t drink,and being able to get health advice from network members are protective factors for high smoking index among outpatients who quit smoking.3.Smoking cessation physicians should be aware of the complexity of the influence of social networks on smoking index among smoking cessation outpatients,and should consider the characteristics of social networks when formulating smoking cessation strategies.
