Observation Of The Clinical Efficacy Of Shengmai Huoxue Decoction In Treating Refractory Angina (with Qi Deficiency And Blood Stasis Syndrome)

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of self-Shengmai Huoxue decoction in treating refractory angina(with Qi deficiency and Blood stasis syndrome)Methods: 70 patients in conformity with the inclusion criteria are recruited from the outpatient department of the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and randomly divided into the control group(n = 35)and the treatment group(n = 35).Statistical analysis showed no significant difference in gender,age or other demographic features between the two groups.Both groups were treated with standardized modern medicine and their living habits regulated.Apart from these,patients in the treatment group were given self-designed Shengmai Huoxue decoction.The treatment period was 8 weeks long,and the case record forms were filled out every 4 weeks to record various data,including angina clinical score,TCM syndrome score,Seattle Angina Questionnaire(SAQ)and ECG.The treatment effects are then assessed against those clinical data.Results:(1)angina clinical scores and efficacy: angina clinical scores of the 2 groups were lower than before(P < 0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was86.67%,excelling that of the control group,which was 60%.(2)The total scores of TCM syndromes and efficacy: the total scores of TCM syndromes in the 2 groups of patients were lower than before(P < 0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group was 80%,excelling that of the control group which was 53.33%.(3)Scores of each TCM syndrome and the respective efficacy for each syndrome: the treatment group is better than the control group in terms of improvement in chest pain and intolerance of cold in limbs.(4)Seattle angina scale: The physical limitation(PL),anginal stability(AS),anginal frequency(AF),treatment satisfaction(TS),disease perception(DS)scores of patients in two groups after treatment were all higher than those before treatment(P < 0.05).After treatment,the degree of physical activity limitation(PL),stable state of angina(AS),attack of angina(AF),treatment satisfaction degree(TS)and disease awareness degree(DS)in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P < 0.05).(5)ECG: The effecative rate of the treatment group is 33.3% while that of the control group was 20%.Such a difference is not enough to support the claim that the efficacy of the treatment group is better than that of the control group(P > 0.5).Conclusion: The research findings demonstrate that the self-designed Shengmai Huoxue Decoction has significant efficacy in the treatment of Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis type refractory angina.This decoction can relieve the clinical symptoms of patients and improve the quality of life to a certain extent with high safety.The therapeutic effect of this decoction is better than that of western medicine alone.The self-designed Shengmai Huoxue decoction can be used for the treatment of refractory angina of Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome.
