Objective: To understand the hospitalization characteristics of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)in a third-class hospital in Xinjiang and to explore the factors affecting the hospitalization costs of COPD patients,so as to put forward the prevention and control strategies of COPD and provide reference for reducing the hospitalization costs of COPD patients. Methods: The general data and hospitalization expenses of COPD patients admitted to the respiratory department of a third-grade hospital in Xinjiang from 2010 to 2019 were retrospectively analyzed and collected. The general data of patients were analyzed by descriptive statistics, and the influencing factors of hospitalization expenses were analyzed by univariate analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: A total of 8662 effective patients were collected from 2010 to 2019,with a male to female ratio of 1.32:1.Most patients were aged 60-69 and 70-79 years old,and married patients accounted for 93.89% and patients with medical insurance at all levels accounted for 58.32%.Male patients aged 70-79 and80 years and above were significantly more than female patients;57.41% of the ethnic groups are Han and 32.71% of the ethnic groups are Uygur. The proportion of the ethnic groups has not changed much in the past 10 years. In each occupation type, the population overall distribution and 10 years distribution are retired people the most; There was no significant difference between the patients in each month.Western medicine expenses accounted for 43.02% of the hospitalization expenses, and the medical expenses accounted for 31.72%,which ranked second.Univariate and multivariate analysis results showed that gender, age, marital status, payment method, length of stay, and other diseases were the influencing factors for the hospitalization cost of COPD patients. Conclusion: The majority of COPD patients are male and elderly, suggesting that they are the main population for prevention and control.Among the medical expenses, the western medicine cost is the first one,and the diagnosis cost is the second one.Controlling the western medicine cost and diagnosis cost is an important link to control the excessive cost.Age and length of stay were the main influencing factors for hospitalization costs.
