BackgroundThe incidence of language retardation in children is increasing year by year, and the related problems of children’s screen exposure are attracting global attention.Foreign studies have shown that screen exposure has adverse effects on language development in children aged 1-3 years, and many countries have developed corresponding screen exposure guidelines for infants and young children. There are fewer such studies in China, and there are no relevant guidelines.this study retrospectively investigated screen exposure, family status, sleep status and other data of 1-3-year-old language stunted children in urban communities, and compared with the normal language development group,in order to understand the correlation between language development and screen exposure.to provide some reference for the development of guidelines for screen exposure of children in china.Methods2.1 Research subjectsChildren aged 1-3 who visited the children’s health clinics of our hospital from January 2016 to July 2018 were selected as the research objects.2.2 Collection of clinical data Basic information, family situation, screen exposure, expressive language indicators, sleep status of the enrolled children.2.3 Subgroup criteriaGesell Infant and Children Development Scale was used to evaluate the language development of research objects and group.2.4 Statistical analysisStatistical analysis was applied SPSS 22.0 software to P<0.05.Results3.1 From the gender analysis, there were 406 male children,59 of which were language retardation and 421 female children,34 of which were language retardation.3.2 By age,256 cases aged 12 to 18 months,Among them,38 cases of language retardation,From 18 to 24 months,Among them,29 cases of language retardation,From 24 to 30 months,Among them,16 cases of language retardation,From 30 to 36 months,Language retardation in 10 cases.A higher proportion of children aged 12-18 months and 18-24 months developed language retardation.3.3 In the family context, the proportion of children with low parental education, low monthly family income, mother age<30 years, not living with parents, with father or mother, with language retardation increases;in the sleep situation, the proportion of children with language retardation in falling asleep irregular is higher than that in the normal group, and there is no significant difference between sleep difficulty and night crying.3.4 Compared with the normal language development group, the screen exposure time of the language developmental retardation group was long, the initial contact screen age was less than 12 months old,and the proportion of parents accompanied by parents and limited screen exposure period was small.3.5 There was a significant difference between the index completion of expressive language and screen exposure time in children under 24 months of age.3.6 The results after controlling for confounding factors showed that screen exposure time>2 h、without parental escort and unlimited screen exposure period were important risk factors for language retardation in children. The results showed that the screen exposure time>2 h、without parental escort and without limiting the screen exposure period.ConclusionLong screen exposure will affect the family language environment and children’s sleep, which is not conducive to children’s language development. It is suggested that parents increase parent-child communication, limit children’s screen exposure period, and strictly avoid watching electronic screens before bedtime.
