The Preliminary Exploration Of Digitization Workflow In Prosthodontics &Case Reports

Part One.Cases report of the fixed prostheses of anterior area in digital and traditional workflowPurpose.To contrast the difference of the primary clinic effect and procedure in repairing anterior teeth in digital and/or traditional workflow.Materials and methods.Three cases of fixed prosthesis in anterior area were collected from patients who visited the Department of Prosthodontics of Fujian Medical University Affiliated Stomatological Hospital from March 2018 to February2020.According to the patients’ oral health conditions and different chief complaint,all ceramic full crown and/or veneer were applied by using digital or/and traditional methods.Through the comparison of operation process and the feedback of patients during and after the treatment,and referencing the relevant literature,to evaluate the specific differences between two methods.Results.In the process of restoration,the digital method has the advantages of high comfort,shorter time in occlusal adjustment and reducing time of chair side effectively,but the final effect of restorations often need to be modified and processed by dental technicians.While the final result of the traditional method is not the same as that of the design stage.Because of the multiple errors of using articulator,the time of occlusal adjustment is longer.The final restoration of the three cases can meet the clinical requirements such as edge sealing,and all patients are satisfied with the final effect.Conclusion.Compared with the traditional method,the digital way simplifies the treatment process,facilitates communication.Patient has high satisfaction with the repair effect and good experience during treatment.Last but not least,the accuracy of each process has been greatly improved with the progress of the corresponding technology,from being comparable to gradually surpassing the traditional method in recent years.It really realizes the aesthetic foresight and functional replication,and the final restoration can completely copy with the design effect which is of great significance to the precise anterior teeth restoration that needs both aesthetics and function.Part Two.Cases report of restoring edentulous with different recording methods in horizontal jaw positionPurpose.To contrast the difference of the primary clinic effect and procedure in restoring edentulous by using different methods to record horizontal jaw position.Materials and methods.Three cases of edentulous were collected from patients who visited the Department of Prosthodontics of Fujian Medical University Affiliated Stomatological Hospital from November 2018 to February 2020.According to the patients’ oral health conditions and different chief complaint,three methods were used to record the horizontal jaw position for repairing process,including direct interocclusal recording,Gothic arch tracing and myo-monitor recording.Evaluating the differences between different methods by comparing operation procedures and patients’ feedback,and referencing relevant literature.And exploring the applications of neuromuscular equipment in prosthodontics.Results.All patients were satisfied with the aesthetic effect and function.But the objective evaluation and long-term effect still need to be further evaluated.Conclusion.There are three views on the horizontal jaw position: the centric relation position,anterior the centric relation position and freedom in centric.Each point of view has its own basis and successful clinical trials.Direct interocclusal recording is the most commonly used method,but it tests the doctor’s experience.For patients with habitual protrusion or mandible deviation,the deviation often come up without dentist’s help.Gothic arch tracing procedure is cumbersome,and has requirements and limitations in patients.The process is pretty standard and easier for beginners.It is the only objective way to observe the degree of mandible recession.But some patients can’t bear the point in back range.The way is the most suitable position for the muscle to establish the occlusion,which is easy to adapt.The largest activity unit of masticatory muscle can be recruited in this way.But the non-invasive surface electrode can not loosen the external pterygoid muscle,which may cause mandibular protrusion.So the myo-monitor way is still controversial at present.In addition to the function of determining the jaw position,neuromuscular system can also effectively relieve muscle pain and so on.
