| With the development of economy and medical treatment, the average life expectancy in China is rising. In order to solve the problem of aging, the country began to try the mode of combining medical care with old‐age care. However, the limitation of medical resources hinders the integration of medicine and nursing. As a unique medical resource in China, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has the comparative advantage of medical care and prevention, which can improve the constitution of the elderly while supplementing medical resources and reduce the occurrence of diseases of the elderly from the root.Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, active aging theory, welfare multivariate theory, this paper expounds the necessity of traditional Chinese medicine to participate in the combination of medical care and old‐age service. Objective: To identify the main influencing factors of TCM’s participation in the combination of medical and nursing care,so as to provide Suggestions for TCM’s participation in the combination of medical and nursing care from the perspective of government, families and individuals. Methods: Based on the method of literature research and interview, the evolution of the combination of medical care and nursing home and abroad was sorted out to investigate the typical cases of the combination of medical care and nursing home in Shandong province.Questionnaire survey was used to investigate the cognition and demand of the elderly aged 60 and above with normal cognitive ability for the combination of traditional Chinese medicine.Chi‐square test and binary Logistic regression analysis were performed with SPSS 17.0 to determine the main influencing factors of the attitudes of the elderly towards the participation of traditional Chinese medicine in the combination of medical care and nursing. Results: The acceptance of traditional Chinese medicine and the cognition of the combination of medical care and nursing were the key factors affecting the attitude of the elderly towards the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and nursing. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine still has long treatment cycle and poor quality. Conclusion: The government should clarify the responsibilities of various departments, implement policies, regulate the market, and help colleges and institutions to build a two‐way talent channel.Social forces can provide personalized door‐to‐door service as a competitive advantage. The community will play a centralized role in promoting the integration of traditional Chinese medicine and nursing, and reversing the traditional concept.Colleges and universities should not only train talents, but also give play to the leading role of disciplines in enriching TCM theories and innovating treatment methods.Families should pay attention to the spiritual comfort and care needs of the elderly, master the knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine health maintenance and first‐aid skills. The elderly should take the initiative to enrich the cultural life of the elderly, not to interfere with their children’s lives, and pay attention to their own feelings and health.Only through the joint efforts of all parties can we truly achieve the deep integration of traditional Chinese medicine and medical care. |
