Clinical Observation On Treatment Of Postherpetic Neuralgia By Press Needle Combined With Acupuncture

Objective1.To observe the clinical efficacy of press needle combined with acupuncture in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia so that we can explore a treatment that can alleviate pain quickly and reduce complications.2.To explore the therapeutic effect of press needle in neuropathic pain and expand the application range of press needle.To investigate the effect of this method on the improvement of psychological disorder,such as anxiety and depression.MethodsSixty patients with postherpetic neuralgia(PHN)who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into an experimental group(press needle)and a control group(acupuncture group)with 30 cases each.The control group was treated with acupuncture at Jiaji point and corresponding area governed by the damaged nerve once a day for a total of 8 times.The experimental group used the treatment of press needle combined with acupuncture.Press needles were used in the pain department after acupuncture,and the press needles were retained for 24 hours.This treatment was preformed every other day for a total of 4 times.Visual analogue scale(VAS),Pittsburgh sleep index(PSQI),Hamilton depression scale(HAMD)and overall clinical efficacy were evaluated before and after treatment.The clinical observation data were statistically analyzed by SPSS20.0 to evaluate the clinical effect of press needle and acupuncture in the treatment of PHN.Results1.Case inclusion:There was no statistically difference in age,gender,course of disease and the score of pre-treatment Visual analogue scale,Pittsburgh sleep quality index and Hamilton depression scale between two groups(P>0.05).2.Clinical efficacy:The total effective rate of the experimental group was 86.7%,while that of the control group was 73.3%,and this was statistically difference(P<0.05).It revealed that the effect of press needle group was better than acupuncture group.3.Pain improvement:The score of VAS was statistically difference before and after treatment in each group(P<0.05),and there was a statistically difference between two groups after treatment(P<0.05).It revealed both groups could alleviate the pain,and the effect of press needle group was better than acupuncture group.4.Mood improvement:The score of HAMD was statistically difference before and after treatment in each group(P<0.05),while there was no statistically difference between two groups after treatment(P>0.05).Both groups could improve the mood of patients,with similar efficacy.5.Sleep improvement:The score of PSQI was a statistically difference before and after treatment in each group(P<0.05),and there was a statistically difference between the two groups after treatment(P<0.05).Both groups improved the score of PSQI,and the press needle group improved the sleeping quality,sleeping time and sleeping disorder better than the acupuncture group.Conclusion1.The overall effect of press needle combined with acupuncture is better than that of conventional acupuncture.2.Press needle combined with acupuncture can effectively improve the pain symptoms,depression,anxiety and sleeping quality of patients with PHN,which is worthy of promotion and application.
