| ObjectiveThis study clinically observed the effects of heat-sensitized acupoint catgut-embedding therapy on perimenopausal insomnia patients, and compared with conventional acupoint catgut-embedding therapy,by evaluating the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),improved Kupperman Index(KI),syndrome score of kidney deficiency and liver stagnation and recent clinical efficacy,to evaluate the efficacy and safety of heat-sensitized acupoint catgut-embedding therapy in the treatment of perimenopausal insomnia, with the aim of exploring more effective treatments, thereby optimizing clinical programs and promoting them in the clinic.MethodsA total of 60 perimenopausal insomnia patients who meet the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria were randomly divided into heat-sensitized acupoint catgut-embedding therapy group(experimental group)and conventional acupoint catgut-embedding therapy group(control group),30 cases for each group. The experimental group performed acupoint catgut-embedding therapy after heat-sensitizing the acupoints Shenshu,Guanyuan,Sanyinjiao, and Ganshu, and the control group performed conventional acupoint catgut-embedding therapy at the same acupoints, which were treated once every two weeks and three months as an observation course.By evaluating the PSQI,the i-KI,the syndrome score of kidney deficiency and liver stagnation, and the recent clinical efficacy before and after treatment,to compare the intervention effects of heat-sensitized acupoint catgut-embedding therapy and conventional acupoint catgut-embedding therapy.ResultsThere was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in terms of age and course of patients(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in PSQI scores,KI scores and syndrome score between the two groups of patients before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, each item score and total scores of PSQI of the two groups got significantly lower(P<0.05);sleep quality, sleep time, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance scores and total scores in the experimental group reduced significantly(P<10.05).The total scores of KI in both groups were significantly lower than before treatment(P<0.05);hot flashes and sweating, paresthesia, insomnia, irritability, depression, dizziness, fatigue, headache, formication and vulvovaginal discomfort scores in the experimental group reduced significantly(P<0.05);hot flashes and sweating, paresthesia, insomnia, irritability, depression, dizziness, fatigue, pain in joints muscles, urinary system irritation symptom scores in control group reduced significantly(P<0.05);paresthesia,insomnia,formication scores and total score in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The syndrome score in the two groups were significantly lower than before(P<0.05),and it in the experimental group were lower than that in the control group(p<0.05).The overall efficacy of the two groups of patients was not significantly different(P>0.05).During the clinical study, patients in the experimental group(2 cases)and control group(1 case)had local bruises, and the bruises was absorbed within 1 week without any treatment;no other major adverse events occurred.ConclusionHeat-sensitized acupoint catgut-embedding therapy can improve the sleep of perimenopausal insomnia patients, alleviate the symptoms of perimenopausal insomnia patients, reduce the syndrome score of kidney deficiency and liver depression, having good safety. And the effect of heat-sensitized acupoint catgut-embedding therapy is better than conventional. |
