ObjectiveUsing abdominal acupuncture to treat upper limb hemiplegic patients after primary stroke and evaluate the effect with surface electromyography, which provide a more useful treatment method for the rehabilitation treatment. And explore the feasibility of muscle synergy similarity as a rehabilitation assessment.MethodsThe study is a prospective, randomized control trail.22 patients with upper limb motor dysfunction who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into the abdominal acupuncture group and the sham abdominal acupuncture group by using random number table. Both groups were treated for 30 minutes/time,once a day,5 times/week for a total of 2 weeks. We eassessed the scores of muscle strength,Brunnstrom,FMA-U,MBI and sEMG before and after the course of treatment and also observed the adverse reactions during the treatment. After the end of the treatment, the data were statistically analyzed and the research conclusions were drawn.Results1.Comparison of baseline:There was no statistically significant difference in the baseline data of the two groups of patients before treatment and the baseline comparison of the evaluation indicators.2.Comparison of efficacy:After the course of treatment, the muscle strength,Brunnstrom,FMA-U and MBI of the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(P<0.05);but of them between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05);the improvement level of muscle strength and Brunnstrom between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the improvement rate of FMA and MBI between the two groups(P>0.05)3.Hierarchical comparison:There was no significant difference in the changes of FMA-U and MBI between the two groups in age and the course of disease(P>0.05).The difference of FMA-U between abdominal acupuncture group and sham abdominal acupuncture group was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Electromyography analysis:Abdominal acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training can improve the similarity of muscle synergy between the upper limbs of hemiplegia. There was correlation between the number and similarity of muscle synergy and clinical scale data.5.There were no adverse reactions during acupuncture and rehabilitation.ConclusionAbdominal acupuncture is effective and safe in improving upper limb motor dysfunction in patients after stroke, and the number and similarity of muscle synergy can quantitatively reflect the degree of dysfunction and rehabilitation effect.
