| Circular RNAs(circRNAs)are a diversity of endogenous non-coding RNAs,which are abundant,ubiquitous and stable in eukaryotes with a closed loop structure.They are also highly conserved and spatial and temporal specificities.Current researches demonstrated that circRNAs can regulate gene expression,function as sponges of mi RNAs,interact with molecules such as proteins and some of them even can be able to translate proteins directly.Therefore,the disorder expression of circRNAs may induce the initiation,development and metastasis of many human cancers,including gastric cancer(GC).GC is a malignant tumor that originates from gastric mucosal epithelial cells and is the fifth most common cancer in the world and the third leading cause of death in cancer patients.China is one of the countries with higher incidence of gastric cancer in the world.Over 400,000 new GC patients are in China each year,accounting for almost half of the total number of newly diagnosed GC patients in the world,and as many as 300,000 people die of gastric cancer every year.Gastric cancer has caused a huge burden on China.The diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer in early stage is the prerequisite for radical treatment of GC,which can effectively extend the survival time of patients with GC,improve survival treatment,and reduce the burden of disease in patients and our country.As a kind of novel biomarker,circRNAs are easy and effective indicators that can be used for early diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.Nevertheless,the majority of their value in gastric cancer remains a mystery.In this study,we analyzed the expression of hsa_circ_0005654 and its clinical significance in gastric cancer.The expression levels of hsa_circ_0005654 in gastric tissues were detected by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR).Then we assessed the potential association between hsa_circ_0005654 expression levels and patients’ clinicopathological factors.To appraise the diagnostic value,the receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)was established.The expression levels of hsa_circ_0005654 were remarkably decreased in gastric cancer tissues when compared to corresponding non-tumorous tissues.Furthermore,hsa_circ_0005654 expression levels were significantly correlated with cell differentiation and Helicobacter pylori infection,one of the main factors of gastric carcinogenesis.Our study suggests that hsa_circ_0005654 may function as a novel biomarker for diagnosis of gastric cancer. |
