PURPOSE: In the field of craniomaxillofacial surgery,digital optical navigation system has been widely used and greatly improved the accuracy of skeletal surgery due to the rigid anatomic structure has the characteristic of no deformation.However,the soft tissue is easy to occur deformation resulting in intraoperative image drift and there is lack of intraoperative real-time monitoring means of its deformation,which lead to larger locating errors during surgical navigation procedure.This study intends to establish the technology method of craniomaxillofacial ultrasound and CT/MR image fusion based on optical positioning registration and preliminary clinical verification,aiming at solving monitoring the intraoperative deformation of soft tissue qualitatively and quantitatively,thus solving the key issue of surgical navigation error in craniomaxillofacial soft tisue..METHODS: 1.Algorithm research of craniomaxillofacial soft tissue ultrasound and CT/MR image fusion.2.Verifying the accuracy of algorithm by fusing standardized craniomaxillofacial ultrasound with MR image data.3.Establishing data communication connection among optical positioning device,ultrasonic diagnosis system and the workstation.C linical cases were selected to verify the accuracy of ultrasound and C T image fusion and evaluate its clinical outcome.RESULTS: 1.Establishment of algorithm and theory of craniomaxillofacial soft tissue ultrasound and C T/MR images fusion.2.The independently developed image fusion algorithm based on d LDP realized the effective fusion of craniomaxillofacial ultrasound and MR,the average error was about 2.30±1.1 mm;3.Preliminary establishment of image fusion system based on optical positioning registration and realization of craniomaxillofacial soft tissue ultrasound and CT image fusion was verified by clinical cases,the average error was 1.96 mm.CONCLUSIONS: 1.The independently developed image fusion algorithm based on d LDP is feasibile and operable;2.The accuracy and displaying outcome of image fusion based on optical positioning registration can meet the clinical requirements better.It has the key significance for further research of craniomaxillofacial soft tissue intraoperative navigation.
