Study On The Preparation Of Eucalyptus Oil Solution

Eucalyptus oil is a kind of volatile oil obtained by steam extraction from eucalyptus globulus labill which belongs to myrtaceae or cinnamomum camphora which belongs to lauraceae.Eucalyptol,with chemical name as 1,8-cineole,is the main active ingredient of eucalyptus oil.As a kind of extracted essential oil,eucalyptus oil has a variety of pharmacological activities and currently been applied in clinical for treatment of bruises,swelling and bruising in human.Till now,eucalyptus oil has not been applied to treat scabies in veterinary clinical.In this study,a new liquid preparation of eucalyptus oil for treatment of animal scabies was studied.It was demonstrated that eucalyptus oil preparation has significant pharmacological action and the route of administration was flexible and convenient without resistance defect of western medicine,therefore,it has broad application prospects.In our study,considering the convenience of clinical application,the feasibility of the practical production and pharmacodynamic data,30%eucalyptus oil solution was determined and prepared with the appearance and emulsification of the solution as the preliminary evaluation standards.We also determined the prescription and production process by screening of surfactant and cosolvent.Referring to the existed national standards and technical studies,the quality criteria of 30%eucalyptus oil solution was established which included character,identification,examination and determination of eucalyptol.When samples being examined,pH,quantity and emulsification should be considered.Gas chromatography was used to determine the content of eucalyptol and the method we explored was validated.The validation results showed that the content of eucalyptol had a good linear relationship with the concentration range of 4.045～14.287 mg·m L^-1.The method could be used to determine the content of eucalyptol in the samples with high accuracy,precision,repeatability and stability.Stability test and packaging compatibility test of the product were studied including factors influencing test,accelerated test and long-term test.The product was evaluated basing on the established quality standard.At present,factors influencing test and accelerated test had been completed and the results showed that the quality of product can meet the requirments of established standard.The long-term test was still in progress.Animal experimental study on the safety of eucalyptus oil solutions proved that the administration of 5 times of clinical recommended dosage or lower of eucalyptus oil to complete skin or 3 times of clinical recommended dosage or lower to damaged skin had high security.
