Prevalence And Influencing Factors Of Sarcopenia In The Middle-aged And Elderly Of Bai Nationality In Rural Areas Of Wanqiao Town,Dali

Objective To investigate the prevalence of sarcopenia and its related factors of the middle-aged and elderly Bai nationality in Wanqiao town,Dali City,providing basis for the development of corresponding intervention measures.Methods A cross-sectional survey was used to collect the information of middle-aged and elderly Bai nationality in Wanqiao town.The skeletal muscle mass and other body components were detected via bioresistance assay with body composition analyzer produced by Tsinghua Tongfang.The muscle strength and physical function of middle-aged and elderly people were assessed using a spring grip and five sit-up tests,and fasting venous blood was collected for laboratory examination.Sarcopenia was diagnosed according to the Asian Sarcopenia Working Group（AWGS2019）diagnostic criteria.The patients were divided into sarcopenia group（n=35）and non-sarcopenia group（n=173）.The clinical data of the two groups were compared and the related factors of sarcopenia were analyzed by multivariate logistic regression.Results A total of 208 middle-aged and elderly patients（63.82±7.96 mean age）were investigated,including 80 males and 128 females.The overall prevalence of sarcopenia was 16.83%（35/208）,with 10.00%（8/80）in males and 21.09%（27/128）in females.The difference in gender,age,educational level,BMI,drinking,drinking tea,total body water,percentage of body fat,UA,TG,HDL-C,HOMA-IR,GPR,LPR,COPD,depressive symptoms,nutritional status between sarcopenia group and non-sarcopenia group of subjects were statistically significant,all P<0.05.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that female（OR=5.218,95%CI:1.098～24.794,P=0.038）,age ≥75 years old（OR=9.214,95%CI:2.018～42.078,P=0.004）,low education level（OR=7.948,95%CI:1.658～38.098,P=0.010）,COPD（OR=5.752,95%CI:1.040～31.808,P=0.045）,depressive symptoms（OR=3.974,95%CI:1.104～14.304,P=0.035）,malnutri tion and malnutrition risk（OR=16.054,95%CI:4.727～54.528,P<0.001）were all the risk factors of sarcopenia.BMI（OR=0.378,95%CI:0.266～0.539,P<0.001）and UA（OR=0.986,95%CI:0.974～0.997,P=0.016）were the protective factors of sarcopenia.Conclusion The prevalence rate of sarcopenia is high in the middle-aged and elderly Bai in Wanqiao town,Dali City.More,for the middle-aged and elderly people,early screening and intervention should be carried out for important influencing factors such as BMI,nutritional status,mental state and combined diseases,so as to delay or prevent the occurrence and development of sarcopenia.
