ObjectiveIn this study, the finite element model of scoliosis in children was established by finite element analysis, and the posterior three-dimensional orthopedic operation was further simulated on the basis of successful finite element modeling.to develop a reasonable operation plan for patients with severe scoliosis, and to provide some theoretical basis and support for improving the quality of life and health status of children.MethodsA 14-year-old female child with typical scoliosis was selected as the experimental object, and the relevant image data(spiral CT,etc.)were collected.By using the modeling function of engineering software Mimics and the analysis ability of Ansys Workbench,a complete three-dimensional finite element model of severe scoliosis in children was successfully established. Finally,on the fully established three-dimensional finite element model, the finite element surgical correction simulation was carried out according to the relevant literature and the operation plan discussed by experts.in the process of simulation, the orthopedic effect of nail-rod system and related tissue mechanical properties of three-dimensional scoliosis correction were analyzed and studied.ResultsThe main results are as follows:(1)A complete three-dimensional finite element model of severe scoliosis in children has been successfully established, which is similar to the original spine and has high geometric similarity. The model uses 14 material properties and 2 element types, including 892008 elements and 1550548 nodes.(2)the simulation of posterior three-dimensional orthopedic surgery for scoliosis was successfully completed on the establishment of a complete finite element model. After the completion of surgical simulation, the orthopedic rates of thoracic scoliosis and lumbar scoliosis were 38.7%and 20.4%,respectively.The results show that the effect of surgical orthopedic simulation scheme is effective.ConclusionThe finite element model of severe scoliosis in children was successfully constructed by finite element analysis, which not only provides the experimental basis for the simulation of posterior three-dimensional orthopedic surgery, but also provides a new orthopedic idea for the formulation of safe and effective surgical treatment for children with severe scoliosis. At the same time, this study also provides some help for the development of children’s quality of life and physical and mental health.
