| Objective: This study suggests that chronic inflammation of airway and lung tissue plays an important role in the development and progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)is closely related to chronic airway inflammation, and runs through the whole process of the development of COPD.By detecting the expression level of VEGF in serum of AECOPD smoking patients at all stages,we tried to evaluate the severity of the disease of AECOPD smoking patients early. Methods: A total of 80 AECOPD smoking patients diagnosed and treated in the Department of Inhalation Surgery of our hospital from October 2019 to November 2020 were collected and divided into mild, moderate, severe and extremely severe groups according to their pulmonary function.A total of 20 non-smoking health examinees were collected in the outpatient department, and their clinical and laboratory indicators were all within the normal range. In each group,4ml of elbow venous blood was collected from smoking AECOPD patients within 24 hours after admission and from healthy subjects in the same period. After centrifugation, the supernatant was absorbed and placed into EP tubes, labeled and frozen at-80℃.The content of serum VEGF in each experimental group and control group was detected by ELISA.At the same time, the clinical data of lung function, blood routine,C-reactive protein and procalcitonin were collected. The data were obtained after statistical analysis.Results:(1)The expression level of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in blood was statistically different among all groups(P < 0.05).Compared with the healthy population, the expression level of VEGF in AECOPD group was significantly increased(P < 0.05).(2)In each AECOPD group, compared with the mild group, the serum VEGF expression level in the moderate group, severe group and extremely severe group was significantly increased(P< 0.05).(3)There was no significant difference in serum VEGF expression between moderate group and severe group(P > 0.05).Compared with the extremely severe group, the expression level of serum VEGF in moderate and severe groups was significantly increased(P < 0.05).(4)Compared with healthy group, the expression level of C-reactive protein(CRP)in moderate group, severe group and extremely severe group was significantly increased(P< 0.05);Among all AECOPD patient groups, there was a significant difference in the expression level of CRP between the mild group and the severe group(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the expression level of CRP among the other groups.(5)There was no significant difference in the expression level of PCT among all experimental groups(P >0.05).(6)The expression levels of PCT and CRP were not significantly correlated with FEV1/FVC% and FEV1%pred.There was no correlation between serum VEGF expression and FEV1/FVC%,but there was a negative correlation between VEGF and FEV1%pred in AECOPD group(r=-0.369,P < 0.05).Conclusion:(1)The results of this study showed that the expression levels of PCT and CRP in peripheral blood were of little value in judging the severity of AECOPD smoking patients.(2)The results of this study showed that the expression levels of serum VEGF was significantly increased in AECOPD smoking patients, but the severity of the disease in AECOPD smoking patients could not be effectively assessed. |
