Objective: to analyze and discuss the efficacy and complications of C-arm guided balloon compression(percutaneous balloon compression,PBC)in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia(trigeminal neuralgia,TN).Methods: the surgical effects and complications of 55 patients who underwent PBC in the Department of Neurosurgery of the first affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 2018 to December 2020 were studied retrospectively. In this study,we included a total of 55 patients,55 patients were routinely performed MRI scan of the internal auditory canal before operation for detailed and comprehensive preoperative evaluation and regular postoperative follow-up.The basic clinical data, curative effect, anxiety and depression before and after operation,VAS score before and after operation, postoperative complications and follow-up results of patients with trigeminal neuralgia were statistically analyzed. Results: 1.The data of 55 patients with trigeminal neuralgia treated by PBC were analyzed.the results showed that there was no significant correlation between age, sex, course of disease, affected side, pain branch, past medical history, previous operation, previous drug use, balloon compression for 1 to 3 minutes and more than 3 minutes after PBC.There was significant correlation between balloon shape and the curative effect after PBC.There was significant difference in VAS score before and after operation, anxiety and depression before and after operation.two.In this study,a total of 51 of the 55 patients were cured, with a cure rate of 92.73%.2 cases were effective and 1 case was effective. The effective rate of PBC was 98.18%.The symptoms were not relieved in 1case.There were 52 cases of facial numbness on the affected side after operation.there was no change in the number of cases of facial numbness 1 month after operation.there were 41 cases of facial numbness 3 months after operation and 23 cases of facial numbness 6 months after operation.23 cases of mouth chewing weakness recovered within 3 months after operation,17 cases of mouth angle herpes recovered 1 week after operation,1 case of diplopia recovered 1 week after operation, and 3 cases of keratitis were treated with erythromycin eye ointment and recovered 1 week after operation. The cardiac reflex of trigeminal nerve in 52 cases returned to normal level in a short time after corresponding treatment. Conclusion: C-arm guided PBC is an effective,low-risk and mild complication method for trigeminal neuralgia, and it is an ideal method for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.
