Cherry tomato(Lycopersivon esculentum Mill)as a fruit as well as a vegetable,is an important crop for people in daily life.It has bright color, excellent taste and a variety of nutrition, with a two-fold content in vitamin C of conventional tomato varieties. Also, cherry tomato is rich in a variety of anti-cancer substances.Light and temperature are two most important environmental factors that affect plant growth and development,as well as energy consumption in plant production. The signal pathways of light quality and temperature in plants overlap in some case, and they have complex interactions in many metabolic processes that regulate plant growth and development.Photosynthesis is the source of energy for plant life activities, and its main photosynthetic products are sucrose and starch.Carbon metabolism is one of the most basic metabolic activities of plants, and sugars are the main substances of carbon metabolism, and can represent the photosynthetic carbon metabolism of plants to some extent. In addition, supplementary light is an effective way to ensure normal growth of cherry tomato in greenhouse due to low light stress in winter and early spring in most northern district of china. Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the effects of light and temperature on growth and yield of cherry tomato, which can provide a theoretical support for making a optimal supplemental light strategy in greenhouse. The effects of red and blue light quality and temperature in isolation on plant growth and development have been well researched. However, few studies have reported that the effects of interaction between red and blue lights,as well as their interactions with temperature were investigated on growth and development of plant. In this study, the morphogenesis, photosynthetic characteristics and sugar metabolism in tomato seedlings cultured under different light quality or different light quality and temperature conditions were investigated.Furthermore,we also investigated the effect of supplemental red-white light which was selected based on the our previous study on yield of cherry tomato in winter production. The effects of different red and blue lights and its interaction on cherry tomato seeding morphogenesis, photosynthetic characteristics and sugar metabolism showed that light quality significantly affected the morphology of cherry tomato seedlings.Compared with white light treatment, the plant height and leaf area of red-treated cherry tomato seedlings increased significantly, and blue light significantly decreased plant height and leaf area. The plant height of red and blue light treatment was significantly lower than that of red light treatment and higher than that of blue light treatment, indicating the plant height were antagonistic management by red and blue lights. And red-blue light significantly increased healthy index and plant dry weight compared with white light.Light quality also affects the photo synthetic products in different organs of cherry tomato seedlings.Red-blue light significantly increased the pigment content in leaves as compare to blue light, and enhanced carboxylation efficiency as compare to red light.Also,Red-blue light significantly increased the light compensation point and light saturation point of cherry tomato seedlings compared to other lights. In addition,red-blue light increased the starch content in various parts of cherry tomato seedling, especially in the middle leaves.Taken together,Robust growth of cherry tomato seedling are both required for red and blue lighs due to that red-blue light is beneficial to photosynthesis and sufficient sugar supply. The effects of coupling of red and blue light quality and temperature on cherry tomato seeding morphogenesis, photosynthetic characteristics and Diurnal variation of sugar content showed that the growth and photosynthetic of cherry tomato seedlings were affected by the interaction between light quality and temperature. In this paper, the interaction between light quality and temperature was found in the morphology, matter accumulation and photosynthetic characteristics of cherry tomato seedlings.Compared with R26 treatment,The plant height of R21 treated cherry tomato seedlings reduced significantly, and significantly increased stem diameter, healthy index, weight of root and middle leaf, and improved the photosynthetic characteristics of cherry tomato seedlings, such as AQY,LCP,LSP,CE and so on.The effects of the light supplement experiment of overwintering cherry tomato in greenhouse in Zhangjiagang City,Suzhou, showed that Compared with natural light, the traditional HPS lamp and red-white spectrum LED significantly increased the plant height and stem diameter of cherry tomato, and significantly accelerated the picking time of cherry tomato.Compared with natural light, the yield of red-white light-treated cherry tomato seedlings significantly increased.Compared with the high pressure sodium lamp, the redwhite spectrum LED is suitable for the cultivation of overwintering tomato in greenhouse in Suzhou area that the red-white spectrum LED power of the test was only 15%of HPS,and the yield was 1.28 times higher than HPS treatment. In summary,it was found that the interaction of red-blue light quality significantly promoted photosynthetic in leaves and light morphogenesis of cherry tomato seedlings. The interaction between light quality and temperature was found in the morphology, matter accumulation and photosynthetic characteristics of cherry tomato seedlings.Compared with R26,the R21 significantly improved the matter accumulation and photosynthetic characteristics of cherry tomato.Compared with high pressure sodium lamp,red-white spectral LED lamp is suitable for greenhouse overwintering tomato cultivation in Suzhou area.
