Skin diseases have a great impact on the health and quality of life of dogs and cats. They often cause abnormal lesions such as red hair follicles, pruritus, festering, hair removal and local rash in dogs and cats, which are easy to repeat and difficult to prevent and cure.At the same time,it will cause certain public health problems. In order to study the common pathogens and epidemiological characteristics of acarid dermatosis and superficial fungal dermatosis in dogs and cats in Urumqi,a clinical investigation was carried out from September 2017 to January 2019 at the Animal Center Hospital of Xinjiang Agricultural University and Miaofei Animal Hospital in Urumqi, use skin scraping,Wood’s lamp examination, direct pressing, ear swab and fungi isolation and culture in vitro were used to diagnose the skin diseases of dogs and cats in clinic.According to the incidence of canine and cat diseases, the treatment plan was formulated and the typical cases were selected for analysis, which provides a theoretical basis for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of canine and cat dermatosis.Investigation and analysis of 258 dogs with dermatosis and 66 cats with dermatosis in clinic, the results are as follows:(1)In common acarid dermatosis of dogs and cats, there were 129 cases of canine acariasis, accounting for 50%(129/258),of which Scabies,Otodectes cynotis and Demodicidosis were common;14 cases of feline acariasis, accounting for 21.21%(14/66),of which Otodectes cynotis was the most common, followed by Scabies and Demodicidosis.Among superficial mycosis of dog and cat skin,88 cases(34.11%)were canine dermatomycosis(88/258);44 cases of cat dermatomycosis accounted for 66.67%(44/66).The main pathogenic bacteria of dogs and cats were Microsporum canis and Malasses fungus.(2)Pathogenic Characteristics of Varieties,Canine acariasis was more common in Teddy(10.08%),Hybrid and Bulldog(8.53%)and Husky(7.75%);the incidence of feline acariasis was higher in short-haired domestic cats(35.71%)and British short-haired cats(28.57%).The higher incidence of dermatomycosis in dogs were hybrids(15.91%),golden-haired dogs(13.64%)and Teddy dogs(12.50%);cat dermatomycosis is common in British short-haired cats(38.64%)and domestic short-haired cats(31.82%).(3)Seasonal morbidity characteristics, the high incidence of canine and cat acariasis in Urumqi from July to September,18 cases,21 cases and 16 cases, respectively, fewer cases occurred in January and December, all were 7 cases;superficial fungal dermatosis has the highest incidence was in August-November,with a total of 87 cases;the incidence was the lowest in January-March,with a total of 9 cases.(4)Sex and age characteristics of the disease, the prevalence of acariasis in female dogs and cats was higher than that in male dogs and cats. The ratio of male to female was 1.34:1;the incidence of superficial fungal dermatosis in female dogs and cats was lower than that in male dogs and cats, and the ratio of male to female was 0.81:1.Both canine and cat acariasis and superficial dermatomycosis are common in young dogs and cats under 1 year old.(5)In laboratory diagnosis,143 cases of common canine and cat acariasis were detected by deep skin scraping method, while the diagnostic accuracy of Scabies was low.Auxiliary diagnosis was needed by ear-foot reflex method;132 cases of canine and cat dermatomycosis were directly examined by microscopy, the positive rate was 43.18%;Wood’s lamp was 63.64%in dogs and 81.82%in cats. The results of isolation and culture of fungi in laboratory were mainly Microsporum canis, and a small amount of Microsporum gypsum and non-dermatophyte Alternaria spp.(6)The results of the treatment experiment showed that the main treatment methods for canine and cat acariasis were Tongmei(doramectin)and tachylaxis(sodium cyanoiodosalamide)to kill mites or control the number of mites. The combination of antibiotics, bicamethamide collar and shampoo had better therapeutic effect.89 cases(62.24%)were cured once,34 cases(23.78%)were cured twice,9 cases(6.29%)were cured three or more times,8 cases(5.59%)were transferred halfway and 3 cases(2.10%)gave up treatment.Itraconazole and terbinafine are commonly used in the treatment of superficial epidermal mycosis in dogs and cats. There is no significant difference in the efficacy of Microsporum canis. However, combined use of topical antifungal ointment, antifungal shampoo, oral B vitamins and fatty acid nutrients could achieve better therapeutic effect.72 cases(54.55%)were cured without recurrence at one time,37 cases(28.03%)were cured after the first treatment,16 cases(12.12%)were transferred to hospital, and 7 cases(5.30%)gave up treatment. To sum up,the clinical dermatosis of dogs and cats is mainly common acariasis and superficial fungal dermatosis, which has the characteristics of breed incidence, mainly concentrated in young dogs and cats under 1 year old,and occurs more often in summer and autumn;it is easy to cause misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis when using a single examination method in clinical diagnosis.Joint diagnosis should be carried out to improve the detection rate;the cure rate of canine and cat dermatosis is affected by clinical diagnosis, therapeutic drugs, livestock owners’ compliance and environmental disinfection consciousness.
