Research On The Economic Development Of Animal Husbandry In Abaga County(1949 ~2019)

Abag Banner,located in Xilingol prairie,Inner Mongolia,China,is the typical research object,which has the available natural grassland area of 40.23 million mu（approximately equals to 2.68 million hectares）,accounting for 97.5%of the total area of the Banner,and 13.6%of the total grassland area of the Xilingol League of Inner Mongolia,China.With the third largest grassland area in the center of the League,Abag Banner has a hybrid type between nomadic way of life and sedentary grazing,compared to the sparsely-populated East Ujimqin Banner and Sonid Left Banner of the League with vast areas of unitary nomadic way of life as well as the unitary sedentary grazing in several banners and countries in Chakhar region of Inner Mongolia.As a livestock-based economy in the frontier area with ethnic minorities,an extensive way of raising livestock depending on the weather and rotating grazing four seasons from generation to generation was predominate in Abag Banner before the establishment of People’s Republic of China（PRC）.Therefore,it is of great significance to sustaining local husbandry economy,maintaining regional economic development,boosting living standards,closing down the gaps between unban and rural development as well as achieving a balanced and harmonious development by summing up historical experiences and lessons.The thesis combed through pertinent data for husbandry development within70 years to analyze the economic advantages and disadvantages and development factors as well as constraints of Abag Banner in predecessors’foundation,and proposed recommendations for a sound and sustainable development in Abag Banner’s husbandry,providing a reference to the development of livestock economy in Inner Mongolian as well as advancing related economic development in Abag Banner.This thesis is constructed by six parts:Chapter 1 introduces background,significance,research contents and research approaches.Chapter 2 briefly introduces research actualities in and abroad as well as related concepts involving the husbandry development in Abag Banner,based on the Four Theories on prairie management and sustainable development for prairie.Chapter 3 analyzes status quo of the husbandry and the basic sequence of livestock-based economy in Abag Banner with collected references from the year of establishment of PRC to the 30^thyear of Reform and Opening-up policy.Chapter 4investigates the development bottleneck of husbandry and analyzes the existing issues through process analysis and summarizing pertinent experience.Chapter 5 concludes the dominant factors that restrict the development of husbandry based on quantitative analysis.They are prairie ecosystem,defense capability for prairie disasters,rate of supporting facilities for infrastructure construction,commercialization of livestock products,and market-based level.Chapter 6 proposes the development direction of the new era for husbandry-based economy in Abag Banner.It is pointed out that the husbandry shall be the pillar and foundation of prosperity in Abag Banner through improving the ecosystem,adopting intensified and sustainable way,prioritizing green livestock husbandry and enhancing the awareness of ecological protection among nomads,turning Abag Banner into a pearl of northern frontier.
