Tomatoes are a vegetable with a wide range of cultivation and are favored by consumers. However, the normal growth of tomatoes is greatly affected by natural factors. The use of greenhouses for planting can provide a relatively stable environment for tomato growth.Among the many factors that affect tomato growth, there are obvious differences in tomato growth trends under different salt stress conditions. In recent years, many scholars have made great contributions to the research on the response of crop growth to salt stress, but most of them have focused on studying the response of crop roots to stress. To this end, this article takes tomato as the object, and applies uniform and non-uniform salt stress to the roots on both sides after planting the tomato with separate roots to study the growth physiology and yield and quality of tomato,in order to explore the salt environment suitable for tomato growth and to scientifically control tomato growth. The salt environment provides a theoretical basis. In this experiment,’T1228 Stone’ tomato was used as the research object. After split root planting,5 groups of different salt concentration ratios were set as the test groups under the conditions of total salt concentration on both sides of the root system of 0.4% and 0.6%.The salt concentrations are T11(0.1%,0.3%),T12(0.1%,0.5%),T21(0.2%,0.2%),T22(0.2%,0.4%),T31(0.3%,0.3%),and CK(0%,0%)without salt stress was used as the control group of the experiment.Through the uniform and non-uniform salt stress test, the various growth indicators and yield and quality indicators of tomato are measured and analyzed. The following conclusions are drawn through the analysis of the test results:(1)Under uniform salt stress conditions, lower salt concentration stress conditions can stimulate the growth of tomato roots, and the number and length of side roots of tomato have an obvious upward trend, and under low concentration stress conditions, all indicators of tomato have an upward trend; With the gradual increase of salt concentration, salt has an inhibitory effect on tomato growth. It shows that the tomato root system is under salt stress;the main root growth will be obviously inhibited. When the main root growth is inhibited,it will stimulate and induce lateral root growth, forming a growth compensation effect on the entire root system.Under salt stress conditions, the degree of changes in root morphological parameters is themost obvious, which can be used as an important reference index for studying tomato tolerance to salt concentration.(2)Under the condition of split roots, compared with the uniform salt stress, the sodium ion content in the tomato leaves in the experimental group under the non-uniform conditions was significantly reduced, and the photosynthetic parameters and dry matter quality were significantly improved;this is due to the non-uniformity of the tomato.Under salt stress conditions, growth on the side with lower salt concentration is promoted, which can produce functional growth compensation on the side with high concentration to improve the tolerance of tomatoes to salt.Under non-uniform salt stress conditions, tomatoes are resistant to salt stress. The tolerance of adverse environment is stronger.(3)Under non-uniform stress conditions, with the increase of the growth time after planting, the salt tolerance of the leaves gradually increases;the performance is as follows: the potassium ion content, photosynthetic parameters and tomato dry matter quality of the leaves in the seedling stage all increase with the total salt concentration. The increase showed a decreasing trend;when the tomato was in the fruiting period, the above indicators in the leaves showed an increasing trend when the total salt concentration on both sides of the root system was 0.4%.(4)Under the test conditions, the quality of tomato fruit has a tendency to promote first and then inhibit with the increase of salt concentration, indicating that tomato growth under a certain amount of salt stress environment can be beneficial to the improvement of fruit quality.Under the same total salt concentration conditions Compared with uniform salt stress, the effect of non-uniform salt stress on fruit quality is more obvious, which is prominent in the increase in the ratio of soluble sugar content in tomatoes.
