Planting legume green manure as a cover for soil surface during farmland fallow to help soil nitrogen fixation, supplement trace elements in soil and prevent weed growth. However, green manure plants in the field may prolong the exsiting time of pests and increase the pest generations which would result in pest growth and outbreaks.L.sticticalis could harm different plants including green manure crops by feeding on them.Studies focusing on the biological effects which grains and economic plants exert on L.sticticalis vary. While few studies have discussed the effects which green manure might exert on their populations.Nowadays.areas covering green manure in China are constantly expanding.which would inevitably have an impact on the occurrence and damages of L.sticticalis.The effects both on the life table parameters and flight ability brought by L.sticticalis larvae feeding on different green manure plants of aren’t clear yet.In this paper an age-stage two-sex life table has been built about the larvae respectively feeding on C.album,P.sativum,V.villosa and V.sativa.Also it has been tested with an indoor mill flying device that the flight ability of three-day-old adults feeding on different green manure plants since the larval stage, the results are as follows:1.Age-stage two-sex life table of larval stage feeding on different green manure plants. The amphoteric age-stage two sex life table technique has been adopted to predict and analyze the growing situation and group number of the L.sticticalis feeding on different green manure plants during the larva stage. As a result, the differences of the ages and the age-stage two-sex life table parameters of different L.sticticalis feeding on three different green manure plants and C.album have been cleared:The L.sticticalis feeding on V.villosa could not complete the development of one generation;the larvae feeding on V.sativa had the longest growing period(21.75d).the C.album group was the shortest(13.83d);as for the insect period.the Vicia sativa L.group was the longest(20.91d)versus C.album group the shortest(19.26d);the female adult feeding on C.album laid the most eggs while V.sativa adult the least(110.41 tablets).the mean generation time of the C.album group was the shortest(43.54d)while the V,sativa group was the longest(52.85d);the net reproduction rate of the C.album group was the highest(68.63)while the the V.sativa group was the lowest(15.64);the intrinsic rate of increase of the C.album group was the highest(0.097)while the the V.sativa group was the lowest(0.052);the finite rate of increase of the C album group was the highest(1.102)while the V.sativa group was the lowest(1.053).The prediction results of L.sticticalis feeding on different host plants showed that the population was the largest when they ate C.album.In summary.it is considered that the suitability of L.sticticalis on these four plants is followed as L.sticticalis>P.sativum>V.sativa>V villosa.2.The flight ability of 3 days old adult feeding on different green manure plants during larval stage. The three-day-old adults of L.sticticalis which have been feeding on different plants since the larva stage have been tested with the flying device technique. The results indicated that the larvae feeding on C.album showed the best flying capacity while the larvae feeding on V.sativa showed the weakest flying ability. However, there was no significant difference in flying time between female adults feeding on three different host plants since the larva stage; The flying distance(11.55km)and average flying speed(1.37km/h)of the C.album group were distinctly longer than those of the P.sativum group and the V.sativa group;the flying time of male adults(8.06h)was distinctly longer than that of the Vicia sativa L.group(6.85h);the flying distance and average flying speed of male adults were distinctly different among the three experimental groups as the flying distance of the C.album group(11.04km)was the farthest and average flying speed(1.36km/h)the fastest while the V.sativa group(5.08km)was the shortest and the slowest(0.73km/h).
