Both Acer rubrum and Tilia europaea are tree species of great ornamental value,it was confirmed that Xinjiang area was suitable for these two trees introduction trough observing aspects of phenological observation,leaf color rendering effect and regional climate comparison of two species.The softwood cutting and layering propagation techniques of Acer rubrum and Tilia europaea were studied respectively.The aim is to find optimal hormone concentration and optimal rooting site suitable for root cutting and root layering of two tree species respectively to provide technical supprot for rapid propagation through researching the effects of growth hormone concentration and rooting site on rooting of two tree species.thus enriching the landscape tree species in the region.The cuttings/layerings were treated with different concentration gradients of IBA,NAA and IBA+NAA,respectively.The year semi lignified branches of Tilia europaea and the 8-year-old branches of Acer rubrum were taken as test materials,respectively.and sands was cutting matrix of Acer rubrum,The EM50 data logger was used to continuously monitor the substrate temperature and water content,and later indicators were observed.The root number,root length,and root diameter were recorded,respectively.and the rooting rate was calculated by all of the indexes.In the later period,the data were analyzed and processed under the way of One-way ANOVA,and the significant differences were observed.The results were as follow:(1)It had two color presentation periods a year for Acer rubrum,and the leaf color rendering effect was obvious;it showed a strong cold endurance in Xinjiang area for Tilia europaea.And two tree species grew well in Xinjiang area and were suitable for introduction.(2)It belonged to cortex rooting species for Acer rubrum,the rooting position was 0~5 cm away from the base of the cuttings,the callus grew on the 6th day and the root was born on the 10th day.the rooting effect of hormone with the mixed solution of IBA and NAA is better than that of hormone with IBA and control,the highest callus rate was 77.8%when the cutting slips of the tree were treated with the mixed solution of IBA add NAA(100+200 mg/L).And the highest rooting rate was 68.9%when the cutting slips of the tree were treated with the mixed solution of IBA and NAA(800 mg/L).(3)It belonged to callus rooting tree species for Tilia europaea,The rooting effect was significant under appropriate growth hormone treatment.the root layering effect of hormone with IBA was better than that of hormone with NAA and control,The best rooting rate of Tilia europaea layering was obtained by 500 mg/L IBA solution,with an average rooting of 80%,followed by 1500 mg/L NAA solution,with an average rooting rate of 73.3%.The suitable rooting position of Tilia europaea layering was in the middle part,the rooting rate was 77.8%.
