To research the effects of different intercropping methods of millet-peanut on the growth and yield of millet.Nongda No.8 and Nongda No.10 were selected as test materials for field experiments. There were5 treatments: millet single cropping(T1),millet-peanut 2: 4 intercropping(T2),millet-peanut 3: 3intercropping(T3),millet-peanut 4: 2 intercropping(T4),peanut single crop(T5).The morphological indexes, physiological characteristics and yield of millet of the two varieties were determined, including plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, etc.,and the main results were as follows:1.The different intercropping modes of millet-peanut increased the plant height and stem thickness of Nongda 8 and Nongda 10 to different degrees, and the plant height of Nongda 8 was higher than that of Nongda 10 at all growth stages.Under different intercropping modes The millet plant height and stem thickness showed T2>T3>T4.2.The leaf area of millet peanut under different intercropping treatments was higher than that of single cropping treatment, and the leaf area of Nongda No.8 was higher than that of Nongda No.10.Among them, the T2 treatment performed the best, with the fastest growth rate in the early stage and a slower decline rate in the late stage. In the early stage of growth, there was no significant difference in leaf and stem dry matter accumulation among different treatments;in the later stage of growth,T2 treatment was significantly higher than that of single cropping;from heading stage to filling stage, the dry matter accumulation rate of millet ear was the highest, among which T2 treatment had the fastest growth rate.3.Chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b of nongda No.8 and nongda No.10 showed a trend of increasing first and then decreasing, reaching the maximum value at the heading stage, and then decreasing gradually. The contents of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b of the two cultivars were increased to different degrees in different intercropping treatments.Among them, the T2 treatment reached the maximum value, which was significantly different from that of single cropping. The rate of decline was slow in the later stage of growth, which delayed the senescence of leaves to some extent.4.Compared with monoculture, the net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate and stomatal conductance of millet leaves under intercropping treatment all increased to different degrees, and the intercellular carbon dioxide concentration decreased. For chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, the actual photochemical efficiency of PSII in intercropping millet leaves, electron transfer rate, photochemical fluorescence quenching coefficient and potential photochemical activity of PSII were all significantly improved compared with single cropping, while the maximum quantum yield of PSII was not significantly changed.Intercropping of millet-peanut can effectively improve the photosynthetic capacity of millet leaves,so that the leaves can capture more light energy and improve the utilization rate of light energy,so as to achieve high yield of millet.5.Millet and peanut intercropping significantly increased the antioxidant enzyme activity of millet leaves and reduced the content of malondialdehyde in millet leaves. As the proportion of millet in millet and peanut intercropping increased,POD and SOD activities in millet leaves gradually showed Declining trend, increasing MDA content.6.Compared with single cropping, the yield components of millet treated with T2,T3 and T4 of nongda No.8 and nongda No.10 improved by 2.75% ~ 7.68% and 7.05% ~ 16.07% respectively, among which T2 treatment showed the best performance. However, due to the shading of high level millet, peanut has poor ventilation and light transmittance, which inhibits the growth and development of peanut and puts it at an intercropping disadvantage.Under the treatment of T2,peanut yield and its components have the smallest decrease.
