Shanghai Green Belt is a major trans-century project in Shanghai. It was founded in 1998 and has been almost 20 years so it is necessary and urgent to carry out a comprehensive and scientific study of plant community evolution and functional renewal. In this study, the plant community of the hundred-mile belt was taken as the research object. We used the Farrell survey method to investigate and analyze the characteristics of four seasons in 101 quadrats, and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)and comprehensive index analysis were used to evaluate the 50 samples. Finally,we put forward the optimization strategies for the typical quadrats from three aspects of ecology, landscape and recreation, and proposed different types of community configuration mode recommendations, providing the basis and reference for the function updating and follow-up management of Shanghai Green Belt, which has realistic guidance. The results show that the prevalence of vegetation resources in 101 sample plant communities is relatively monotonous and the landscape is monotonous, and species diversity is not high and the difference is large, showing the characteristics of high artificial influence, too dense arbor layer planting, recreational facilities and other issues.Among the 50 sample plant communities, there are 3 plots of Grade I in the comprehensive evaluation grade I,accounting for 6%;Grade II is 16,accounting for 32%;Grade III is 20,accounting for 40%;Grade IV is 10,accounting for 20 %;GradeⅤ is 1,accounting for 2%.The comprehensive evaluation shows that the ecological quality is the most important indicator of the level of the guidelines,of which plant health is the most important impact factor. The ecological benefits, visual quality and recreation fitness of plant communities are not necessarily related. The evaluation score of evergreen and deciduous mixed forest has the highest score and the highest ecological quality, and coniferous and broad-leaved forest comprehensive evaluation score is the lowest. What’s more, the overall level of Baoshan District and Pudong New Area are higher, but the differences between different quadrats is large. The innovation of this research lies in the establishment of a research perspective from the multidimensional aspects of ecological functions, aesthetic functions and recreation and development conditions, and lies in using the theory of multidisciplinary knowledge to construct comprehensive evaluation system of the plant pommunity in Shanghai Green Belt. However, reliability and validity need to be further verified in future research.Due to the seasonal differences in the visual landscape of the plant community, the characteristic landscape has a short duration, the follow-up study should be aimed at different communities of time-effect sub-period investigation.
