Traditional study of glassfiber filter media performance is mainly based on experimental methods.This method not only consumes a lot of manpower and material resources,but also has a long development period and is limited by the types of raw materials.In recent years,Numerical methods have attracted more and more attention from scholars,but most of the filter media models are not based on the actual filter media.There are too many simplifications of the filter model,and the simulation results cannot truly reflect the filtration performance of the actual filter media.In order to solve the above problems,based on the actual glass fiber and glassfiber filter media,this study carried out research work about performance of glassfiber filter media with numerical tool,characterizing the diameter of submicron glass fiber,establishing model of glassfiber filter media and simulating filtration performance,which have practical guiding significance for the development of high-performance glassfiber filter media.This study first explored the applicability of the filter media structure model and mathematical model in the performance calculation of glassfiber filter media,and then explored the effect of fiber diameter on the performance of high-efficiency glassfiber filter media based on the determined fiber parameters and mathematical model.The specific content and main conclusion are as follows:1.Obtain the parameters of glass fiber and glassfiber filter media through experiment methods as the basis for establishing the filter media structure model.The parameters of glass fiber include fiber diameter and fiber density;according to the results of diameter characterization,glass fibers with average fiber diameters of 1.55 ?m,0.68 ?m,and 0.24 ?m were selected to make single-component glassfiber filter media for parameter characterization.including structural parameters(orientation,thickness,grammage)and performance parameters(pore size,air permeability,pressure drop and filtration efficiency).2.The filter media structure model and calculation performance mathematical model used in this study had certain applicability in the performance simulation research of glassfiber filter media.The fiber diameter distribution and orientation distribution in the three glassfiber filter media models were in good agreement with that of real fiber;the calculated average pore size was close to the experiment results;the calculated air permeability changing with the pressure drop was consistent with the experiment results;the calculated pressure drop and filtration efficiency was more consistent with the experiment results than that of the empirical formula results.3.Based on the determined glassfiber model and the mathematical model of calculation performance,the structure design of H12 high-efficiency glass fiber filter media was explored,and experiments were carried out to verify the effectiveness of the simulation method in the improvement of the structure and performance of high-efficiency glassfiber filter media.The results showed that simulation results and the experiment results had the same changing trend,and materials with higher quality factor were the same formula.4.In order to expand the possibility of structural design of new medias,glass fiber with gradually larger fiber diameter was designed for performance exploration.0# glass fiber(6.22?m)and 6# glass fiber(0.24 ?m)were matched with glass fiber with an average diameter of2.50 ?m to generate filter material model owning the largest quality factor.This result will help guide the development of new glass fiber raw materials and create conditions for the development of high-performance filter media.Based on the actual parameters of glass fiber and glassfiber filter media,this study confirmed that the random parameter model and the mathematical model of performance calculation had certain applicability in the performance of glassfiber filter media,and it truly reflected the filter performance of the actual media;The fiber formula of high-efficiency glassfiber filter media with higher quality factor has certain guiding significance for the optimization of media structure and performance in practical applications.
