The carbon-based composite(X/C)is new engineering materials with special properties.In recent years.In recent years,waste water pollution has become one of the problems of global concern.Carbon-based composites have good adsorption effect and can be further modified to treat various kinds of pollution in waste water.Activated carbon(AC)coated supported TiO2/AC particles were synthesized by sol-gel method.The structure and morphology of the composite material were characterized by Scanning electron microscope(SEM),Powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)respectively.The catalytic activity of TiO2/AC for dye adsorption(MO and MB)in the presence of metal ions(Cu2+and Cd2+)was investigated.The optimal adsorption conditions for MO-Cu2+are:2 g/L adsorbent,pH=5,initial MO concentration 160 mg/L,and the maximum adsorption capacity of methyl orange is 32.19 mg/g.when the ratio of copper ion to methyl orange is 2:1.For the MB-Cd2+system,the MB adsorption capacity reached 31.78 mg/g,when the adsorbent was 2 g/L,the pH value was 12,the MB concentration was 160 mg/L,and the ratio of the cadmium ion to the MB substance was 2:1.It is found that the enhancement of dye adsorption by metal ions may be due to the increase of oxidation potential and the change of adsorbent surface ions at isoelectric point.TiO2/AC has an excellent recycling performance.Then Carbon-coated Fe3O4(Fe3O4/C)microspheres activated with 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide hydrochloride(EDC)were prepared,characterized and applied to adsorb bovine serum albumin(BSA).The prepared magnetic microspheres had spherical core-shell structure with a uniform and continuous carbon coating coupled with activation by EDC.The adsorption amount of BSA on Fe3O4/C-EDC microspheres was higher than that on the Fe3O4/C microspheres.The maximum adsorption of BSA on Fe3O4/C-EDC microspheres occurred at pH 4.7 for 105.3 mg/g,which was the isoelectric point of BSA.At low concentrations(below 0.1 mol),salt had no noticeable effect on BSA adsorption.The BSA adsorption of Fe3O4/C-EDC microspheres conforms to the Langmuir model and the second-order model of kinetics.The adsorption equilibrium could be reached within 20 min.High desorption efficiency of BSA from Fe3O4/C-EDC microspheres was obtained with 0.5 mol/L Na2HPO4(pH 9.4)(97.6%)as desorbent.
