Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to analyze the extent of knowledge reported by superintendents, principals, teachers, school board members and news media personnel in the use of school finance terms. Data for the study were collected using a validated survey instrument of educational terms divided into four sections: (1) annual budget; (2) taxation; (3) debt services; and (4) receipts. The study included a total of ninety-seven participants in the South Central Texas Educational Service Centers in Regions I, II and III.;A one-way analysis of variance was conducted to analyze the data. The findings indicated there is a significant difference at the .05 level of confidence among the perceptions of superintendents, principals, teachers, school board members, and news media personnel in all four sections of the study.;Therefore, all four null hypotheses were rejected at the .05 level of confidence regarding the perceptions of superintendents, principals, teachers, school board members and news media personnel in their extent of knowledge of school finance terms.;A post hoc analysis was administered to determine who contributed to the difference in each hypothesis.
