| Purpose. To analyse the relationship between pelvic skeletal asymmetry (PSA) and active hip rotation asymmetry (HRA) in healthy females. Methods. 30 healthy females, with no history of low back or hip pain, between twenty-two and forty six years of age took part in this study. An anthropometric frame was used to measure the width between and the heights of the ASIS as well as the PSIS, while in standing. PSA was determined using a formula that normalized its results to body size. Two types of asymmetry were identified: lateral pelvic tilt (LPT) and iliac rotational asymmetry (IRA). A universal goniometer was used to measure active hip rotation of both legs, in both seated and prone. The hip measurements were used to calculate HRA: total hip rotation asymmetry (THRA) and medial hip rotation asymmetry (MHRA), both were determined using formulas that normalized the results to the total ROM.
