Selected demographics of Murray State University Hutson School of Agriculture graduates from December 2005 to December 2012

Abstract/Summary:
This study was accomplished by delivering an online survey to Hutson School of Agriculture graduates from December 2005 to December 2012. Questions were designed to gather basic demographic information but also targeted career and salary data. A total of 526 emails were sent to alumni with a survey link to obtain their perspective of Murray State University's education quality, their employment history, and salary.;A graduate was represented from each year except 2004 and grade point average among participants averaged 3.39. Sixty-two percent of participants were female and thirty-eight percent male with a majority (55.4%) of graduates reporting an age of 25 or younger. All degree options were represented. Most graduates (72%) completed their Bachelor degree in four to five years. Forty (53.3%) participants indicated they had or were completing education beyond a Bachelor's degree. Most (79.7%) students felt Murray State University's education quality was above average. A minority (37.3%) reported not having participated in an internship while a majority (85.3%) reported some type of extracurricular involvement. Numerous (74.7%) graduates reported working while in college with a median hourly salary of ;Graduates first full-time position after graduation had a median salary of ;Graduates who reported working while in college reported higher starting salaries while graduates with more experience in subsequent positions had higher subsequent salaries. Valuable demographical data related to the purpose of this study was collected on graduates. Additionally data on their perspective on Murray State University's education quality and data on their employment status and history was collected effectively related to this study's purpose.
