This study analyzes the issues surrounding childhood obesity and how current nutrition education and physical activity programs, along with food assistance programs impact the obesity epidemic. Each of these programs has a direct effect on childhood obesity and making the right policy changes can have a positive impact on reducing the amount of children who experience obesity in their lifetime. The purpose of this study is to identify successful programs that will provide the most productive resources for policymakers to review and identify funding sources for the programs' implementation. The policy recommendations are for both state and federal government so that they can allocate funds to programs that will effectively address the childhood obesity epidemic. Due to recent increases in childhood obesity around the United States, this issue needs to be addressed in the near future, before major health issues have a negative impact on the lives of children.
