| Children with disabilities and their parents face a multitude of challenges, such as lack of emotional support and access to resources. The purpose of the project was to design a supportive and educational program for parents of children suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and write a grant to fund the proposed program. The objective of the program was to provide parents with support and the opportunity to learn about resources that can help their child have a good quality of life. Familia Unida was recognized as the hosting agency and the funding source selected was the California Endowment. If funded, the program would provide parents with the support and resources necessary to overcome many of the challenges associated with raising a disabled child. |
