Research On Logistic Resource Sharing Among E-commerce Platforms

In recent years,sharing economy develops rapidly.It is not something new to see the resource sharing among enterprises.However,it is still rare that the collaboration among competitive platforms based on resource sharing.Take logistic service esource sharing as an example.It will bring lots of benefit to the parties in the sharing process,such as improving resource utilization,decreasing unit service cost,improve service level,promoting user satisfaction,etc.These impacts are easy to find out.And there are some other impacts that is not so easy to find out,or need a long term to find out,such as the impact to the competitiveness of the participating parties.This thesis takes two E-commerce platforms which collaborate based on logistic resource sharing as a research object,analyzes the impacts of collaboration on the parties participating the resource sharing.I will investigate the impact of customer logistic revenue and platform logistic efficiency on the variables such as product prices,platform profits,platform indifference point,consumer utility and social welfare.This thesis integrates the techniques of qualitative and quantitative analysis.In the qualitative analysis part,I investigate the impacts of logistic resource sharing on the two parties from the aspects of cost,market scale,revenue and competitiveness.Qualitative analysis can only provide the directional results of the impacts.In the quantitatively analysis part,by taking the logistic resource sharing between two E-commerce platforms as an example,I select the major characteristics and build a Hotelling competition model.Based on the model,I obtain the optimal decisions and revenues of the two platforms before and after the collaboration,and compute the respective total social welfares.Following the above results,I get the conclusionsabout the conditions on which any party will be better off or worse off after the collaboration.In the typical example analysis part,I explore the logistic resource sharing practice in the real example,and present the benefits and potential risk that will be brought to the parties by the resource sharing.
