As global competition intensifies, cities enter the era of regional development. The urban construction land overspreading disorderly, the population growing continuously and the excessive function gathering in central cities, which have led to quality of urbanization becoming the focus of urbanization development.Meanwhile Metropolitan Regions being an important supporting plate for economic and social development have been the significant carrier of new urbanization development. So study on the measure for the quality of urbanization in Metropolitan Regions is one of the hot researches at present. This paper takes the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan region and the Wuhan metropolitan region as the empirical objects, sorts out the relevant basic research:(1)clarifies the value orientation for the quality of urbanization in Metropolitan Regions, and constructs the “dimension-layer-factor-layer-index layer” third level quality of urbanization measurement system in Metropolitan Regions. The layer is decomposed into 4 large dimensional layers,10 large element layers and 26 index layers;(2)Based on the remote sensing, traffic and statistical data of satellite imagery, passenger shifts and economic and social development indicators in 2016,the entropy method and CRITIC method are used to comprehensively determine the total weight of the measurement indicators to calculate the dimensions and total scores of urbanization quality;(3)in view of the results of the measures and the comparative or induction studies,UCINET social network analysis and GIS-assisted spatial analysis methods are used to identify the typical characteristics and problems for the quality of urbanization in Metropolitan Regions;(4)this article oriented by problems combines with the empirical objects, from the four dimensions of measure to propose the operational improvement strategies provided for the subsequent promotion high-quality of urbanization in Metropolitan Regions from now on.This paper follows the research path of “measurement system construction—typical characteristics and problem identification—future promotion strategy” in urbanization quality of metropolitan area.According to the “technical route of data collection?sample analysis?general refinement?planning guidance”,the analysis shows that:(1)space development quality, economic development quality, social development quality and environmental development quality are the four dimensions of metropolitan urbanization quality;(2)dimensions describe the typical characteristics of metropolitan urbanization quality, and summarize the main problems affecting urbanization quality of metropolitan area There is insufficient regional coordination,a single-core development model is not strong, the economic industry is homogeneous, the facilities and services are different, the urban-rural integration and ecological conservation are insufficient;(3)focusing on enhancing agglomeration, intensive land use, adjusting structure, enhancing cooperation, optimizing layout, service sharing, tying green network, intelligent governance and other optimization ideas, and proposing a quality improvement strategy for urbanization in the metropolitan area. This paper is different from the traditional studies on the measures for quality of urbanization ment research, introducing remote sensing and traffic data.It emphasizes the investigation of regional coordinated development from the perspective of spatial development. Then based on the identification and analysis of the urbanization quality measurement results of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan region and the Wuhan metropolitan region,it targetedly proposes the strategies to improve the quality of urbanization in Metropolitan Regions.
