As one of the three famous Greek ancient philosophers and the great ancient Greek cultural giant,Plato plays an extremely important historical role in the history of Western thoughts. His ideological studies cover a wide range of fields, including philosophy, political science, pedagogy, ethics, literature, art and so on,in which Plato made pioneering historical contribution. In the republic,Plato proposed his unique story education thought, which is of great significance to the contemporary story education. As an important part of Plato's entire ideological system, story education is based on his objective idealism philosophy, the moral theory of justice that lies in the realization of state and individual justice, and the national political theory that aims to maintain and consolidate the autocratic rule of slave owners.According to the theory of learning recollection and soul turning based on idealism,Plato believes that every human being has the possibility of doing both moral and evil deeds.Story education ought to lead those children with the nature of becoming the guardian to have a complete comprehension of the eternal God,so as to stay away from the plight of ethical conflicts and observe stability and unity so that they can purse kindness and get rid of evilness as well as laying a solid foundation for grasping the rational knowledge about the concept world.Founded on the moral theory of justice,Plato advocates offering children with extraordinary story education filled with noble contents and beautiful forms,in order to achieve the realization of spiritual justice and good virtues of children.Rooted in the national political theory,Plato emphasizes that story editors should write stories in the interests of city builders and they are not supposed to write the forbidden stories.Plato's story education thought is rich in content, mainly including the purpose of story education, the review of story, the principles and methods of story education and so on.From the viewpoint of Plato, the purpose of story education can be divided into two points. At the political level,it lies in the cultivation of the philosophical king combining beauty, morality, compassion and profoundness into one.At the moral level,it lies in the nurture of spiritual justice, which is divided into two aspects: the essence l and the value of the just soul. The review of the story involves two aspects: the reason of the review and the content of the review. And the reasons for the review mainly lie in two aspects: the traditional story damages the image of God and heroes, and denies the value of justice. The contents of the review include two aspects: story content and story style. Moreover,Plato advocates that story education should follow the principles of pedagogical teaching and enlightenment, alongside with the storytelling method of positive guidance. The enlightenment of Plato's story education thought on contemporary story education canbe mainly manifested into the following four aspects: firstly,we should give full play to the value of story education;secondly,we should choose the story materials scientifically;furthermore,we should pay attention to the value of teachers' morality guidance;finally,we should reasonably make use of the method of story education.Needless to say, influenced by his own social relations and the times in which he lives,Plato's story education has the defect of overemphasizing the political function of story creation and ignoring the authenticity of the story contents. Therefore,in the process of discussing the contemporary education value of Plato's story education,we should keep a clear understanding and make a reasonable reflection.
