A Study Of "new Women" In Novels At The End Of The Qing Dynasty And The Beginning Of The Republic Of China

This article cuts through the two perspectives of historical facts and literature,and explores the relationship between ‘new women' and cities in 1898-1919 and the embarrassing situation of new women.The choice of "the study of the new women in the novels of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China" is in line with the big environment created by the new women-the urban,using the literary phenomenon to map the small context of new women-the male guides this internal realism.Multi-angle reinterpretation and discovery of the situation,psychology and practice of new women in historical facts and literature,and deeply explore the spiritual core of new women in urban areas,in order to emerge a new female group closer to reality.This article takes the novel as the basis and takes the new urban women from 1898 to 1919 as the research object.As a female group that is compatible with national demands and feminist claims,new women are compatible with the pursuit of power and self-worth.Can be roughly divided into female students,English females,female novelists,female journalists.The full text is divided into four chapters: The first chapter,"New Women and Cities",is intended to be a holistic examination of the modern changes in women's social identity,which is divided into two sections.The first section discusses the embarrassing situation of women with traditional knowledge.The second section explores the background of the new female group,how the city promotes the emergence of new women.With the invasion of the powers,traditional cities were forced to embark on the road of improvement and opening up,gradually breaking the traditional urban consciousness.With the rapid urbanization process,the shape and connotation of the city have changed accordingly.This does not form a clear expression of consciousness in urban studies or sociology.On the contrary,the novels of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China gave vivid descriptions of the city and showed new factors including new women in the urban world.Of course,the urban landscape under the novel construction is not a copy of the urban real scene,but a re-creation of imagination,hiding the multi-layer cultural code.It is characterized by the prototyping of old and new factors in the city,through a series of recurring personnel scenes to show the psychological signs of people's new urban humanities.The psychological signs reflected in the novel are the attention to urban space,the revelation of rural space;the focus on public space,the prying into private space;the enthusiasm for depicting the three characteristics of female space,causing people to pay attention to the new factors in the specific historical space of the late Qing Dynasty metropolis..The second chapter is "The new female image of male literati." It is divided into three sections.The first section explores the existence of the emerging female group(women),and through the analysis of the novel text,it proves that female work is a vulgar and emerging female group,not a new female that the male elite needs.Emerging female groups are not the same as new women.The second section focuses on the two extremes of the image of female students in the novel,namely the female students who are really good and beautiful and the fallen female students.In the third section,by interpreting the newspapers,local chronicles and other literatures,the author summarizes the British females in the field of public opinion and the subjective and objective reasons for the fall of the British female.Combined with the novel text,this paper focuses on the characteristics of the male and female groups under the male writing strategy.The third chapter "female novelists' deviant and return to tradition".Through the following three sections,the first section discusses the "regression of the image of female students",that is,the characteristics of the female students' image and the reasons for this phenomenon.The second section discusses the female novelist under the male editorial strategy,namely how the female novelist is packaged,and the practice of the new female discourse in female creation and the “deviant” writing.The third section discusses the realistic reasons for female novelists to return to tradition and deviant writing,that is,the awakening and self-empowerment of British female self-consciousness.
