The London Impressionist was an art group formed by Walter Sickert and Steer Philip Wilson in the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries.It made British art gradually get rid of the shackles of the school and broke the firm and rigid Victorian style of Britain.Gradually keep up with the pace of modern art in the world.The article is mainly from the two people of Sickert and Steer first elaborates the origin of the “London Impressionism”,and according to the social and historical background at that time,combined with the French Impressionist art to see the artistic style characteristics of the London Impressionist.Although the artistic styles of the two people are not exactly the same,they all play a role in the transformation of traditional British art into modern art,and they have profoundly influenced British modernist artists Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud.Impact.This article attempts to look at the London Impressionists in a historical and social perspective,and thus to deeply understand the status of the London Impressionists in the history of art.
