In the era of economic globalization,it has been verified in both practical and theoretical field that enterprises can accelerate the innovation process, achieve technological advancement, and obtaine innovation performance through the implementation of open innovation. It is one of the topics of common concern of scholars in the field of innovation management at home and abroad that enterprises acquire innovative performance to maintain competitive advantage.Although the theoretical and empirical studies of open innovation have made positive progress, there are still some flaws in the existing researches.First, the impact and direction of open innovation on radical innovation performance remains contentious.Second, the role of intellectual property protection and centralization of decision-making in the impact of open innovation on radical innovation performance still requires further empirical research.Third, enterprises have the characteristics of situational embeddedness in implementing open innovation activities. The interaction effect of internal and external contextual factors is involved in the process. However, the existing researches on open innovation lack the role of both internal and external contextual factors.Based on literature review and questionnaire survey, this study uses SPSS22.0 and AMOS22.0 to study the relationship of open innovation, centralization of decision-making,intellectual property protection and radical innovation. The main research conclusions include:(1)Inbound open innovation and outbound open innovation both have a significant positive promotion effect on radical innovation performance.(2)Centralization of decision-making has a direct negative effect on radical innovation performance. But centralization of decisionmaking has a significant positive moderation effect of inbound open innovation and outbound open innovation on radical innovation performance.(3)The intellectual property protection has a significant positive effect on the radical innovation performance, but the moderation effect of inbound open innovation and outbound open innovation on radical innovation performance is not significant.(4)The dual regulation effects of intellectual property protection and the centralization of decision-making is significant on the effect of both inbound open innovation and outbound open innovation on radical innovation performance. The theoretical significance of this study is to verify the positive promotion effect of open innovation on radical innovation performance, enrich the empirical research of centralization of decision-making,and deepen the understanding of the role of intellectual property protection in the process of innovation. At the same time, this study provides important practical inspirations for Chinese companies to obtain radical innovation performance,i.e.,Chinese companies should strengthen the deep cooperative partnerships with external innovation sources;Chinese companies should also pay attention to centralization of decision-making and intellectual property protection at the same time in the process of implementing open innovation.
