Since the international financial crisis, the developed countries in order to prevent the hollowing out of industrial structure,to return to the real economy,to reshape manufacturing industry in the global competitive advantage. In the context of economic globalization, the international division is gradually deepened, and the division of labor based on vertical specialization becomes more specific in the production field of countries.China's first ten-year plan to build a strong power strategy “Made in China 2025”,emphasizing the acceleration of the implementation of “Made in China 2025” to achieve the upgrading of manufacturing. From the perspective of global value chain, the upgrading of manufacturing industry is elaborated and researched for China. On the one hand, the research not only enriches and supplements the existing theoretical research related to global value chain. On the other hand, but also it is useful for China to accurately grasp the industrial adjustment, seek for the new economic growth point, and to formulate the effective industrial policies.Under the new open economy policy, this research has an important practical significance in boosting the upgrading of Chinese manufacturing. The structures and contents of this paper are designed as follows.Firstly, the introduction part presents the research background and significance, the current research literature domestically and internationally and the literature review, research contents and methods, and the innovative points and shortcomings.Part 2 is the analysis on the basic concepts and theories of the global value chain. In this part, the basic concepts, related theories and the impact of global value chain division on China's manufacturing upgrade are expounded largely. Then, the status and current condition of China's manufacturing upgrade in the global value chain are analyzed in Part 3.It mainly focuses on two aspects: firstly, according to the input-output analysis method,it measures the status of Chinese manufacturing industry in the global value chain division with non-competitive input-output data of countries and vertical specialization;secondly,by Kaplinsky upgrading index,it measures the current condition of its upgrading from global value chain perspective. In the fourth part, the impact of the global value chain division on the China's manufacturing upgrade is empirically explained. With the use of panel data regression model, the empirical analysis shows the influence of manufacturing's involvement in the global value chain division on the upgrading of China's manufacturing. The empirical results show that China's manufacturing industries and upgrading of vertical specialization degree was positively to the role of global value chain specialization degree of deepening, make gradually increase the proportion of capital and technology intensive industries and upgrade of manufacturing influence degree deepening,labor-intensive industry and capital-intensive industry with China's manufacturing industry in the promotion of the position of global vertical specialization. At last,Part 5 is the conclusion and suggestion part.Through above study and analysis,an overall conclusion is reached, and some feasible measures and suggestions are raised.
