With the development of digital publishing, information technology and open access, the user behavior of scientific papers can be measured, and the usage data of scientific papers has gradually entered the scope of scientific research and has been widely concerned. This study selected scientific papers, published in 2014-2015,of seven open access journals published by PLoS and explored user behavior based on usage metrics by analyzing usage data of journal official site,PubMed Central and Web of Science. This study firstly combed the relevant theories of user behaviors of scientific papers from the perspective of Usage Metrics, and then combined mathematical statistics and text mining methods to compare user browsing behaviors and user download behaviors from static and dynamic perspectives.Firstly,it proved that users tend to choose an open access platform(especially the journal official site)to browse or download the required papers. From the perspective of platform, the usage data of non-open access platforms showed a more obvious Matthew effect. From the perspective of journals, the usage data of PONE journal showed a more obvious Matthew effect.Secondly,it proved that user browsing showed a higher positive correlation with user downloading on the same platform. The paper browsing of journal official site and the paper downloads in PDF format of journal official site also showed a higher positive correlation with the paper cited of WoS.Thirdly,it proved that the top 20% browsed or downloaded paper in official site and PMC platform of different journals showed a higher Jaccard similarity. The top 20% browsed or downloaded paper in PMC platform and WoS platform of different journals showed a lower Jaccard similarity. In addition to the PONE journal, the users of different platforms of other journals paid attention to different topics respectively.Fourthly,it proved that most scientific papers showed a rapid growth trend at the beginning of the publication, and slowly increased with the increase of the duration of the paper publication, and then entered a stable state. Finally,it proved that with the exception of the PONE journal, the evolution of research topics of interest to users of different journals on the official site and the PMC platform is significantly different.
