Ultra wideband(UWB)communication technology has got more and more attention in the field of military communications,civilian digital home appliances,consumer network equipment and other fields,because of its low power consumption,high bandwidth,high transmission rate,low complexity,strong anti-multipath ability,low transmit signal power spectral density,high security.Ultra-wideband antenna is a key component of UWB communication system.Its design theory and design method have become the hotspot of antenna theory and design method.Based on commercial software design antenna,the conventional method is to use the traditional formula first to calculate the approximate size of the antenna,and then build model in the commercial software,after that debug,simulate and output design results according to the design experience.Due to the large error of the formula algorithm,the design accuracy and design speed are largely dependent on the designer's theoretical background and design experience.At the same time,for the complex design,because the speed of design software simulation and debugging is slow,it is difficult to design quickly and accurately.Based on this,the use of certain mathematical algorithm combined with commercial software to achieve the antenna quickly and accurately designed becomes an important area of the antenna design theory and method.This paper studies the particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm used in ultra wideband planar antenna design and combined with high frequency electromagnetic simulation software(HFSS V.10)and PSO algorithm,designs and optimizes a variety of ultra wideband planar antenna.When design the structure of antenna,first use HFSS software to generate VBs files,generating the interfaces rely on VBs files and MATLAB software,then select the appropriate range of the parameters to be optimized as the particle values,after that establish the appropriate fitness function to achieve the desired results.Compared with other intelligent algorithms,particle swarm optimization algorithm is simple,easy to understand,has less parameter and has faster convergence rate.Firstly,a planar UWB antenna with a ring structure is modeled by HFSS software.According to the simulation results of the radiator current distribution of the structure,the sensitive parameters affecting the impedance characteristics of the antenna are determined,by using the PSO algorithm combined with HFSS software,the antenna is optimized by the steps of particle initialization,fitness function selection and call,and the design results are compared and analyzed,then the optimal design results are obtained.On this basis,acomplementary split-ring resonator(CSRR)is loaded on the optimized UWB antenna,and then the same optimization method is used to design a plane UWB with band-notched function antenna,this antenna has a return loss greater than-10 d B in the 4.13-4.41 GHz frequency range,but the antenna return loss is less than-10 d B over the remaining frequency range of the UWB and has good radiation characteristics and proper gain.In addition,an ultra-wideband notch filter based on left-handed material concept is designed and optimized by PSO algorithm.A simple planar patch antenna is combined with the notch filter,and then optimized by PSO algorithm,after that a UWB planar antenna with excellent performance is obtained.The design and optimization method provides a new idea for the design of UWB plane notch antenna.
