The#MeToo Movement was launched in October 2017 after US media exposed the sexual scandals of the Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. This hashtag activism based on social media, has affected many social spheres and spread to several countries, becoming a representative new social movement. The#MeToo Movement, social media and mainstream media have had frequent and intricate interactions during the process, pushing the movement to go further and shaping the public's perception of the movement. From the perspective of Political Process Theory, based on relevant materials from social media and mainstream media, this study focuses on the#MeToo Movement's mobilization and organization, discourse strategies, and interactions with news reports. The research found that the#MeToo Movement took the hashtag"#MeToo" of Twitter as an organization and an external support of mobilization. As a new social movement based on narratives, the#MeToo Movement built its action frames through personalized expressions online, and aligned the action frames through online discussions and offline practices. The mainstream media cooperated closely with social media during the coverage of the#MeToo Movement, which raised public consciousness, and amplified the controversies and shortcomings of the movement as well. The#MeToo Movement has proven that without a formal organization and a detailed mobilization plan,it is possible to launch a new social movement that is large-scale,lasting and far-reaching by taking full advantage of external opportunities and media resources.
