The Textual Research On The Literature Of Confucian Classics And History Of The Night Tales In The Study

Yu Yan is a scholar who lived in seclusion in the transformation period in later Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty and devoted himself to writing books.The Night Tales in the Study was written by Mr.Yu when he entered the Yuan Dynasty and lived in seclusion.The book was written in the Yuan Dynasty and consists of four volumes.The first volume mainly deals with the relevant characters,phonology,exegesis and punctuation in the classical literature,and the opinions obtained after reading the classics of the past dynasties and adopting the theories of various studies.The second volume mainly elaborates on the development in the study of the Book of Changes such as "denouncing Kong Anguo' viewpoint on Xiyu of Luoshu","Hetu","Luoshu" and so on.The third volume mainly records Yu Yan's views on the two fields of calendar and Chinese ancient music.The fourth volume mainly describes what he saw and heard during his study,preparation for exams.The first two volumes are mainly Confucian classics,while the second two volumes are mainly literature and history documents.The research on The Night Tales in the Study consists of three parts: Chapter One,to inspect Yu Yan's age and life background,to clarify the origin of his teachers,descendants and close friends.Secondly,this paper examines the completion time of Yu Yan's The Night Tales in the Study,explores the literature value and prominent position of The Night Tales in the Study in Yu Yan's many works.Thirdly,from the bibliographic books of the past dynasties,we can find the records of the collection of The Night Tales in the Study,and clarify the spread and printing in later generations.This paper makes a textual research on the writing and publishing processes of the Book of Night Tales,collects the editions of the book,and expounds the characteristics,advantages and disadvantages of each edition.The second chapter is mainly about the study of Confucian classics in the book of Night Tales.Firstly,it generalizes the methods and characteristics of the study of Confucian classics.Secondly,through the textual research,to summarize its academic values and academic neglects.Chapter Three mainly investigates the sources and textualresearch features of the literary and historical documents of The Night Tales in the Study,and then discusses the significance and values of the literature and history documents of the book of Night Tales in preserving historical materials and linguistic data,describing the course of mind.In the appendix part,the Ming Dynasty Lange transcript existing in Taiwan Library will be taken as the base,the Ming Dynasty transcript existing in Beijing Library as the main reference,the Wanweibiecang edition which is widely disseminated as the minor reference,and the similarities and differences of the texts will be checked by combining the collation theories and methods of Chen Yuan and Wang Niansun,and the work of punctuation and collation of The Night Tales have been done.In addition,historical materials such as the abstract,preface,postscript and biography of Yu Yan in the ancient books are attached to the end of the book.
