With the rapid development of mobile communication technology,mobile communication networks becoming more and more power-expensive.In order to reduce unnecessary energy consumption,the research on power-saving technology becomes more and more important.Equipment demand is getting higher and higher in terms of service life,delay,power consumption and quality of service with the introduction of the concept of green communication.Discontinuous receiving mechanism(DRX)is a method proposed to meet people's requirements and green communication.However,the introduction of discontinuous receiving mechanism will increase the delay of the network.Therefore,this paper mainly studies the discontinuous receiving mechanism and its impact on the system.The main work is as follow:First of all,the basic concept of DRX mechanism is introduced,and the Markov chain process of the tool is introduced in detail,which lays a foundation for the modeling of traffic with Markov process later.Secondly,we use two kinds of traffic: active traffic and background traffic.These two types of traffic cover the traffics that are often used in daily communication.We use Markov chain to model the two types of traffic,and the expressions of delay and power saving expression are derived.We also use OPNET 18.0 to verify the theoretical derivation.Finally,due to the importance of video traffic in daily life,four commonly used video traffic were selected and modeled using Markov chain,analyzing the impact of DRX timer on video performance,and we also use OPNET18.0 to verify our theoretical derivation results.
