System faults such as actuator failures, structural damage may cause system performance deterioration and even lead to catastrophic accidents. To enhance the reliability and safety of system, fault tolerant control has become an important an important direction of systems and control research, with applications in broad and emerging areas of science and technology. With the increasement of the scale of control systems,a single system modeling method is no longer applicable while the interconnected system modeling modeling method is much more effective. In this paper, firstly the reconfigurability of interconnected systems has been analyzed under the given ernergy comsuption constrict, then a generalized separation principle of interconnected systems have been proposed to provide a framework for observer-based fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control of interconnected systems, and at last the model reduction of inteconnected linear systems has been investigated.Firstly, the research background and significance of fault tolerant control, separation principle, reconfigurability and model reduction are introduced. An overview of the current state of study and research about fault tolerant control of interconnected systems is presented. We study the reconfigurability analysis of interconnected systems, separation principle of interconnected systems and model reduction of interconnected linear systems, and have obtained systemic results. The key contributions are summarized as follows:(1)Reconfigurability of interconnected systems. For a kind of inteconnected systems, after faults occur, reconfigurability evaluation schemes based on the input energy required to drive the initial statesof the interconnected system to the origin are proposed under centralized and distributed control structures, respectively. And further applied to the meta aircraft configuration to illustrate their efficiency.(2)Separation principle of interconnected systems. For a kind of inteconnected systems, after faults occur, separation principles for interconnected systems are proposed.Sufficient fault recoverability conditions are established, under which both distributed and decentralized fault estimation and accommodation schemes are provided, and further applied to the meta aircraft configuration to illustrate their efficiency.(3)Model reduction of interconnected linear systems.Firstly, the conditions which guarantee the fault linear systems can perform the same balanced trunction as the original systems are proposed. And the conditions are further extended to interconnected linear systems. It shows that the faulty interconnected system can be reduced by the same truncation of original interconnected systems when some conditions are satisfied. At last, simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
