Autostereoscopic three-dimensional(3D)display can present information of a 3D image in the same way as nature without the assistance of any extra equipment.Since multiview 3D display is compatible with traditional flat panel display,it has become the most promising technical to implement 3D display in the field of portable consumer electronic devices.However,like other 3D display technologies,multiview 3D display technology suffers from limited information data,and it is difficult to balance image resolution and viewing angle.On one hand,increased spatial resolution leads to fewer views or discontinuous motion parallax.On the other hand,enlarged viewing angle and view numbers will induce degradation in spatial resolution.Here we introduce a novel method based on the wavefront modulation of diffraction optical elements(DOEs)and the principle of variable scale Fourier transform that permits the increment of field of view(FOV)without sacrificing the angular resolution or 2D image resolution.The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)We study the design and optimization of the perspectives modulation.We make the use of the phase recovery algorithm for diffractive optical elements to design and modulate the light field of the each perspective.We take the advantage of the time domain finite difference method(FDTD)to analyze the crosstalk between various perspectives and reduce the crosstalk by adjusting parameters such as the period and depth of the grating.(2)We study the working principle and the production method of modulation plate of field of view.We study the principle and system of variable scale Fourier transform interference lithography,and develop the efficient production method of the pixelated diffraction optical unit.(3)We conduct experiments and analyze the designed modulation plate of field of view.It is found that the designed modulation plate of field of view has the characteristic of separating the viewpoints and expanding the field of view.By designing different binary optical elements and their corresponding modulation plates of field of view and combining them with the masks,the display effect of separating numbers and a 3D scene is obtained separately.Finally,we optimize the parameters and match the modulation plate of field of view and the liquid crystal to obtain a 2D/3D hybrid display prototype model with expanded field of view.
